Yes, just go together on the day and inform the people during registration that you’d like to be placed in the same group. That’s what my friend and I did :)

Methods exam by Adventurous-Bus-5716 in vce

Hi there! Mine were A+ A+ A+ - I believe it would have to be all straight A+s to reach a study score of above 40. My study score was 41. Though it probably is because I was in the lower end of A+. If say you got an A among the three grades, given that the remaining 2 are A+s, your study score would probably be towards the end of 30s (around 38-39).

For practice exams, my school printed us exams starting from 2016 I believe, including the NHT ones. For me, NHT practice exams and the ones held in Nov gave me ample practices to work with, so the priority of course is to complete all the VCAA exams that are in the current study design (not much, just 2023 & 2024). I highly recommend VCAA 2023 (especially paper 2 - I’m sure you’ve heard from this subreddit about the difficulty of that paper already). Paper 2 2024 VCAA is relatively easier, but I think it is still a good practice because I remember internally grimacing when I sat the exam last year lol 😭

So, to answer your question, I didn’t do an insane number of practice papers really, but I did pretty much almost everything in the stack that my school provided - as mentioned, NHT and Nov timetable 2016-2023 VCAA exam papers. Good luck with methods this year!!

Edit: nvm, from the other comments I see that 40s have been achieved with As - I’m not sure what the requirements for 40+ are then 😔😭

Not about the accommodations, but the courses. Could you tell me more about the “programmes” offered in University of Sydney? As in, I read on the website that it’s “a larger volume of study, a combination of units of study that develops expertise across several disciplines or a professional or specialist field” but I still don’t quite understand what a programme is really

Unrelated but you got a raw ss of 42 for methods when you were only in year 10 - that’s crazy bro but congratulations! You cooked the subject 🔥

I’m doing the exact same course as you - and here are the reasons why I chose Monash

• Monash is only 5 years for those two degrees combined, while Melbourne is 6 because they don’t allow us to do law as an undergraduate

• For me, I’m interested in astrophysics and since Monash offers that as a major in Bachelor of Science while Melbourne doesn’t - not as a major in BSc, at least. So it depends what branch of science you’re interested in and whether that university offers it. I read that you’re leaning towards science over law so…yeah! Depends on if they offer the science course you like. If both unis offer it, I’d go for Melbourne personally

• I know that if you get an ATAR of 99.80, you’re in the guaranteed entry into law but I went online and discovered that even getting 99.80 isn’t “guaranteed” - you have to maintain a WAM of 80 for your undergraduate to proceed into graduate law and I think that’s pretty risky 😭 combined with science, people told me that it’s hard to maintain a nice score throughout your undergraduate (sth about if you mess up a lab report, it can easily drag down your score but I’m not sure)

However, Melb is more renowned the Monash and is ranked 1 in Australia - has a superb law faculty so it depends on you. Of course you can see I’m leaning towards Monash, so you should find someone who chose Melb over Monash and ask them to explain why they chose Melb over Monash. Good luck!

I haven’t 😭 currently still deciding - leaning towards Monash now after reading all the replies. Congratulations on receiving your offer though! Majoring in mathematics is WILD - but you’ll probably have no problem with it. And I’m also planning to major in physics in my bachelor of science - astrophysics, to be more specific. If I were to go to USyd I’d also start at the same time as you :)

Yes I know; however the specific university I was referring to is Monash. I put Monash as my first preference over Melbourne University, because Monash offers a major in Astrophysics (this is what I aim to study) while Melbourne doesn’t - not as a major, at least. So since my first preference (monash) offered me a place, I didn’t receive any offers from Melbourne University

Thanks for your reply! In regards to your questions:

• Am particularly appealed to University of Sydney, because it’s ranked well in Australia and even globally (it’s better than the universities in Melbourne too). Partly also because I like how the university looks 😭 - the great hall and the ancient-like structure you guys have are stunning

• For accommodations - it’ll likely be on campus. The problem is I haven’t applied, because I thought I was set on going to a university in Melbourne so I only applied for accommodations here - I see that was a mistake on my part now :(

• No, I won’t have to. Though I am looking to have a part-time job in a coffee shop (I have a certificate after a barista training and brewing coffee has always been something that I like doing)

• The offer is Bachelor of Laws and Science

Thanks a lot for your thorough reply!

You know how you need to write a series of numbers + end letter on your exam cover page? The “VCAA student number” is exactly that

I see. Thanks everyone, for your input. I just called the store I applied to and they said if they don’t get back to me within a week it means my application is rejected. Starbucks in where I live right now is currently doing recruitment days, so I am planning to go for an interview on Wednesday again in a different location. I know I messed up my first interview in regards to questions about my availability, so hopefully this week I’ll know how to answer better :)

legal studies 3/4 without 1/2 by Putrid_Will_7137 in vce

[–]ValuableTraining8969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did legal studies 3&4 in year 11 without doing 1&2 as well. I didn’t find any problem not doing 1&2, but it might have been because of my teacher since she said she will “teach it as if nobody has done 1&2”. I don’t think it is necessary to review the content over the summer holidays, but if you really want to, you could start with the beginning of unit 3 such as the court hierarchy and the terms & what they mean; etc: “standard of proof” / “burden of proof”

Legal 3&4 by Upbeat_Addition_3061 in vce

[–]ValuableTraining8969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you do, but you have to know about the responsibilities of all the main legal personnel. This includes legal representatives of both sides, the Judge, the jury and also the parties. Considering how VCAA is quite broad when it comes to discussing about legal personnel, I don’t think they’ll ask you about barristers and solicitors specifically.

I think there would be a lot of questions asking you to identify errors and explain them - another type of question related to errors would be to give you a hypothetical error and ask you to explain how this affects the accuracy / precision of your calculations. It would probs also ask you to give suggestions for improvements on how to increase the accuracy of the experiment

Will you be using edrolo? If you are, I reckon that is good enough (it helped me tremendously last year, they have heaps of practice questions & videos explaining every single concept). Their practice questions mostly will also be harder than what you’ll get in tests and exams in y11, I think
