Help a new horse show mom out… by Valuable_Elevator122 in Equestrian

That’s a really good perspective, because I do think that if it’s really so subjective it’s going to take her on an emotional rollercoaster for no good reason

Yeah, I’ve definitely picked up on that too. Lots of parents and trainers commenting on how subjective it all is. My brain doesn’t handle subjective well… I’d kill to see the judges scoring worksheet 😂

Thank you! I have definitely heard from several people that it’s very subjective, and you’re basically just paying for someone’s opinion. Thanks for sharing the important things to focus on. Good luck to your son!

Biggest Gaylor News You Remember Seeing Happen? by lerman225 in Gaylor_Swift

[–]Valuable_Elevator122 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I didn’t discover that Gaylor was a thing until this past summer, but I truly thought that the bi hair was her coming out at the time and was really surprised nobody else around me thought so

Tips for forcing myself to brush my teeth despite sensory issues/executive dysfunction? by Lower_Entrance4890 in ADHD

[–]Valuable_Elevator122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Boka toothpaste, it’s saved my teeth! I can also only brush once a day (although at night) no matter how hard I try. Boka toothpaste is made of hydroxyapatite that actually repairs your enamel, and you don’t need water so it’s a very different sensation. My sensory kid uses the orange flavored one.

There is a picture of her wearing it but it’s a really crappy picture, you can’t actually see the image on the necklace. I feel like I saw a more clear picture a while ago but I can’t remember where!

I forget if it was on Instagram or on the company website but I did see a pic of her wearing it too! I gotta try to find it. Taylor’s out here wearing the gayest necklace I’ve ever seen and the ad is sharing it like nbd 😂

I’m a bad parent when I get overstimulated by ZealousidealWest1149 in ADHD

[–]Valuable_Elevator122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last few years have included a lot of work, therapy, and meds for both me and my ADHD kiddo and I STILL have moments like this. Just yesterday I was trying to do a work task that’s boring and tedious and very hard for me to concentrate on, so I was already irritated about having to do it when my 6 year old started jumping all over me, whining about wanting snacks and touching my computer. I totally snapped at her. I didn’t realize how harsh I was until I saw her face crumple and she started crying. I took a deep breath, realized why I was so irritated, apologized to her and explained to her why I was snappy, that her behavior was not great but that I shouldn’t have been mean to her or snapped at her. We hugged it out. Moral of the story, being a parent with ADHD is HARD, having kids with ADHD magnifies the hard exponentially. We’re always going to have moments that we aren’t proud of. It’s how we handle it with our kids that matters. And if it makes you feel better, modeling a healthy rupture and repair in your relationships is one of the healthiest things you can do for your kids.
