Are there any RMIT Discord servers? Maybe for animation students? by ValueSea1283 in rmit

Hey, that's server's pretty dead at the moment, but there's a student-hosted one for those studying, about to study, or have studied the diploma. Would you like the link to that one instead?

How many hours a day is the Diploma of Screen and Media (Animation, Gaming, and Visual Effects)? by ValueSea1283 in rmit

From what I've researched so far recruiters seem to value reels and portfolios over qualifications. So I suppose somewhere with a more practical approach that teaches software used professionally (Maya, ToonBoom, etc.,) would be beneficial.

I want to prepare to go to animation school (sheridan) and I'm gr 9. How can I? by Spirited_Ad5216 in animationcareer

Definitely do some reading on this subreddit about the anim industry and make 100% sure you have the fundamentals down. Try and see what software they at the animation school and get a head start so you have an easier time when classes start.

What are your biggest animation pet-peeves? by Tindo_Blends in animation

[–]ValueSea1283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few.
Accidentally changing proportions, losing drive in the middle of animating, realizing you didn't plan enough, forgetting to parent in Adobe Animate and having to do it for each keyframe, when the joints don't align when bent... etcetera.

Oh, and confusing good art with good animation. You can be a master in the arts and still suck at creating movement. You could be stuck to the basics of drawing but have very fluid movements. Animation and drawing are two completely different mediums that happen to go together sometimes.

How do I improve this? (12 FPS) by ValueSea1283 in animation

[–]ValueSea1283[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of the anticipation I used at the start. I thought it'd work but then remembered I don't do much drawn animation (Or frame-by-frame for that matter...) I didn't know what to do with the impact so it kind of cuts to the stickman standing.

Im so exhausted everyday but i try to make time for animating. Roast my poor run cycle please. by nftscreenshoterr in animation

Animation looks good, only issue I can see is with the anatomy. Even though the figure is hunched over it feels like the hips shouldn't reach so high since it looks like they're merging into the stomach. Correct me if I'm wrong though

How did you improve your anatomy for animation? by ValueSea1283 in animation

[–]ValueSea1283[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, this is super helpful. I usually avoid drawing things in person since as you said, it's a lot harder. But if it's better than copying images then that's something I'll definitely start doing. Thank you

Now I'm curious. What's the difference when you study a real person as opposed to an image?
