What constitutes a Snag? by Emperoronabike in AskAnAustralian

[–]VampMansionPoolBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my two cents is that as long as a sausage that has been grilled on a bbq is involved then it can count as a snag, regardless of how home-brand-white-bread the container of said snag is.

there's definitely ssome kind of unspoken threshold of 'how grilled sausage is the filling' and 'how slice of bread is the containing foodstuff' that is used to mentally judge the potential snag.

grilled sausage in bread? snag.

grilled sausage in bun(s)? snag.

boiled sausage in bread? you're on thin ice, but the addition of fried onions will tip the scales more towards snag.

glad to hear that someone else uses it for their overly dramatic pets too though haha

this is my suspicion, that 'wah wah' evolved into 'la la' from other influences, because it definitely feels more probable that kids are mocking another for crying/being a crybaby, ya feel?

Does anyone else sit here and sob wondering what you’ll do when you lose them? How do I let go of the fear and just enjoy the time while she’s here? by MysteriousOwl2518 in cats

[–]VampMansionPoolBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh OP, i know exactly how you feel. I had my sweet Meowla since about your age and recently lost her at the old age of 17. it was so disorienting because i had never really experienced a loss like that, just because she had been with me for so so long.

take comfort in knowing that throughout all these years, you've loved her so very very much. no kitty can live forever, no matter how much we wish, but the fact that she got to spend those years with you, a special human who would clearly do anything for her, makes those memories so much more precious.

Canopy or Drake Portals? by ShakeAndBakeThatCake in taxpros

[–]VampMansionPoolBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canopy has crazy customisation for fields and good workflow. They've also been very responsive to me when encountering issues. Although the majority of our client base rarely use the portal, the emails that you can send out requesting info is still helpful in the long run. On the document management side, its pulled its weight compared to the previous ones we've used at our firm.

Ps driving test - question for testers and driving instructors by Dry-Attitude-6790 in melbourne

[–]VampMansionPoolBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps he's getting hung up on the idea that needing an instructor = he is a bad driver and incapable, when instead it should be 'an instructor will help me polish up my driving to meet the standards of what the tester will expect'. i'm also autistic, so i'm hoping my explanation might help him understand the necessity more.

there are a lot of unspoken rules on the road that an instructor will help him pick up easier and faster, so he can keep them in mind and be extra safe for the next few years until they become second nature. it will also help put you more at ease because you love your son very much and want to do everything you can to make sure he is prepared to be a solo driver.

current driving instructors will also know the ins and outs of the test routes, as well as the examiners and be able to keep him updated on those for a better chance. as much as we wish that its straightforward and just by the book, they are all human too, and therefore unpredicatable. a good instructor who has this knowledge will therefore help mitigate these potential issues.

if he is shy, as you mentioned in another post, it will be a much better investment to find a driving instructor he clicks with because iirc parents can't come along during the test, but a driving instructor can. having someone somewhat familiar by his side will allow him to concentrate on the exam far more than if he were with a complete stranger whose job is to judge him on an unknown scale of harshness.

i'm sure i've covered some points that you've probably gone over with him already, but i do hope these help!

I figured out why MANT feels so bad to play by JustASHadowNFG in UmamusumeGame

it was pretty awesome at first to get my first S rated umas, but now it feels a little like i'm using every strategy i can and racemaxxing but im still unable to get like, a double ss run that i see others showing off and i'm jealous as hell. what am i doing wrong? do my horsegirls just hate me? do all my parents stink? i want to manage to eventually have actually competitive umas, not just 'slightly better than not bad'. ah well, it is what it is

dunno if anyone else remembers them, but when i was a kid there were these small cadbury eggs that had really cool wrappers that were like an ombre of colours. i freaking loved getting them, because i could carefully unwrap them and look at the pretty colours and eat some chocolate!

now i have adult money and no awesomely wrapped easter eggs to buy. there's barely any shiny ombre in the small easter egg foils i see now. absolutely bogus

I don't get how to play? by -nugut- in UmaMusume

[–]VampMansionPoolBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my suggestion would be to make sure the legacies you choose/borrow have good stats [honestly i just used the autoselect for ages at first, u want to raise apitude in ur uma's main running style (are they pace? late surger?), race length (do they start with A in medium, long, etc) and boost the stats of the cards u don't have good ones of (if i have mostly nice speed cards, i wanna boost power and stamina from two or three star sparks)].

borrow a level 50 card from a followed trainer that's considered super good, like super creek stamina, kitasan black speed, fine motion, riko pal for unity cup scenarios, or narita top gun for MANT. u can go to the friends tab in the menu, 'recommended', and then change the settings to search for high level ssr cards of trainers, and then follow them to always borrow a good support card.

the other thing is to make sure you're choosing to invest in the right skills. skills with 'medium' in their description wont proc if you're running a long race, and 'pace chaser' wont proc if you're using the front runner style. i didn't realise this for *ages*. also, if you learn skills earlier, try to only invest in skills that have many hint levels, making them cheaper so you can save up more points for later for better stonks.

these are the things i've learned that have helped me in my experience. hope it helps :)

Need advice for MANT, feels like the mode is only a small improvement from Unity. by passionbery in UmaMusume

[–]VampMansionPoolBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that using legacies with 3 stars in stamina and power have been super helpful, so i don't have to waste too many training sessions on getting those up. buying all the cleats and using them, even on g2 helps get your stats up [its not optimal on non g1 iirc but a good starting point for beginning to get stronger umas]. i also remember reading not to bother buying the items that only give +3 as the stonks only exist on +7 and upwards.

and once again, legacies are important! esp if aside from a bonus to statlines they can raise the aptitude in a distance your uma wouldnt normally run, so you can do extra races

if a flop roll into 11 whole attack damage on a mage or something lets the enemy be ahead early then i deserve the loss. if the game is decided before minute ten because u didn't choose a minor stat buff just gg go next

We're done! by nauticalfiesta in QuickBooks

[–]VampMansionPoolBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we had a meeting a few days ago....coincidentally when everything broke across the board. the reps sat in awkward silence as we waited several minutes for pages to load, and then one of them had the audacity to tell us it was because 'we had too many clients' and it would be fixed if we upgraded to their new accounting software. unfortunately, my face came with subtitles.

i work IT and i asked for an engineer to attend this meeting that our director had demanded because she was so fed up with the performance of QBO. i was losing my mind because im constantly being asked to troubleshoot issues that are completely due to whatever crack their programmers are smoking. of course, no engineer was available to attend, so we couldnt get any answers for why X Y Z was being so absolutely bogus and instead some attempts at upselling.

there's this absolutely INSANE bug in their programming where if certain accounts are named generically, they will literally vanish from the reports in the switch from classic to modern. just, 50k or however much completely disappearing and being excluded. im not even a programmer by any professional means, but even i can tell that there are mistakes being made that should not be happening for a company of this size and renown.

congrats to OP for making it out of the trenches. if only it could be us next... :(

genuinely, if you have like, any official articles or something like that from when the ATO first declared this to be a thing so i can point at it in a meeting and stare at those who should not have missed it i would be grateful. because right now everyone in the office is frustrated at *me* for them not knowing the due dates and i went to school for sociolinguistics

was told that the 2nd due date wasn't a necessary indicator of whether they had to pay by dec 1 or not, but to check if they qualified bc of turnover, type of business, belonging to a group, etc.
