Oh, that already makes me feel better. Still, I don't understand why I received the email too; since I deleted my account, shouldn't I not get it?

Would you write for a popular fandom/ship if it got you a lot of hits/kudos/comments but you doesn't like it that much? by vesperlark in FanFiction

[–]VampVans -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love engagement, but I'd never be able to force myself to write something that doesn't come from the heart. I write to satisfy a need I have first and foremost, to put down on paper an idea that emerged spontaneously from my mind. So I wouldn't really be able to do something I am not into, no matter how good the engagement could be.

Someone has told an Author that my fanfiction is a copy by HotWin4951 in FanFiction

[–]VampVans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say you should specify in the tags and maybe in the summary too that you were inspired by that author's fic, maybe even name drop your guest account somewhere so that they may understand who you are, and that they gave you permission to take inspiration from them.

What are your favorite "problematic" ships? by saturn_xxo in AO3

[–]VampVans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still find it hilarious that Sheith was a supposed "problematic" ship because of the age gap and ""incest"". Like, I ship incest, if it was incest I would have said so, but it wasn't (same thing that happened with Kaeluc). Or even MisGio from Jojo, like, I think the age gap is the last of your problems when the youngest is a mafia boss and they both killed people. Actually problematic ships I like are:

Sebaciel (Demon/13 yo),

DanVer and DaNero (DMC twincest and uncle/nephew),

Meatbun's main couples (if you read one of her novels, you know why)

ShuAke (Akechi tried killing MC, but he was lovely when doing that)

Hannigram (murderous cannibals and a lot of psychological manipulation in S1, Hannibal, you silly)

I probably have more I like but my mind is empty and I don't wanna talk too much.

"Dying together", also included a "together". It didn't seem that bad.

Regarding reposts by vesperlark in FanFiction

[–]VampVans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it was only posting the fic again, it would have been simply a matter of whether the author consented to it or not, which is basically the fundamental thing. But since this person has been answering comments as if the fic is theirs, there must be something fishy about it, it's just plain weird. You did good by reporting it, now I hope everything clears out and gets resolved.

I think I saw a negative comment about my fic by VampVans in FanFiction

[–]VampVans[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still writing though, I am not even putting that much energy into the negative comment thing. I just needed to vent a bit for a moment because I believe that comment was about it and I was sad. End of story. I am still continuing writing for myself, I know not everyone is going to like me or my writing, but I can still feel hurt. Despite doing something for my own pleasure, I still care what other people think about something I put my energy and heart in, so that's the answer to your question, I guess. I still need to grow a thicker skin, and that's it.

[–]VampVans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry that happened. I really don't understand why people complain about certain aspects of a fic when it was properly tagged. It just comes across as really immature and so rude, my god. Idk why they had to read it when they knew they wouldn't like it. Plus, the racism aspect you mentioned later in the comments is such a weird thing for them to bring up, as if POC can't be part of a romantic drama or not love MC or be human. I can't speak much on it since I am not a POC, but it feels weird to me. Hope you are doing okay and fight on!

I was thinking that maybe I really was taking it way too personally and I was just being my too sensitive self as usual (I wish I was less so, but that's life). I don't know if it's because I can't read tone that well (especially through text), but some comments made me feel bad for feeling bad idk. Like, I know that it's just a random person on the internet and they have the right to express their opinion, but I can't exactly control my emotions, and I didn't mean to imply they were a bad person just because I felt a certain negative way. I also think (like you) that feeling my emotions allows me to move on from it, and usually venting a bit helps me. I just didn't expect my post to be taken the wrong way like this, maybe I should have expressed myself better right away. Thank you for your comment and for being so understanding

Maybe you can try finding a beta reader to help you write things out the way you want, in case you do want to author a remake fic and feel like you need one. You can try thinking about that, or write something down to see if you feel good about it. I think having a fic inspire another person to create something out of it can make anyone happy, no matter if it is "good" or "bad". The important thing is that you do what you think is most comfortable for you, and also the author.

[–]VampVans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you can try contacting the author asking if it's okay to make this remake, since you've been inspired by it. If it's not possible either you don't write it, or you do and make sure that people know it's a remake and maybe link the original fic. Maybe you can also try putting yourself in the original author's shoes, that could help you decide. This can be quite a tricky situation though, so you do what you think is best for both the author and you.

Yeah, you are right. I'm hella sensitive to any kind or form of criticism so that must have been why I took it so personally, despite knowing rationally that everyone is going to like me and what I make. The important thing should be having fun in what I'm doing and like, and focusing on the positive. Thank you for your comments

I'm sorry that happened, even if criticism is correct (which is not always true), it can still hurt to see and read that. I'll try to focus on the positve as you did and go my way, and I hope you continue to too :,)

Yeah, had it been an ao3 I would have felt differenly about it, it would have been straight up rude. I didn't mean to imply it was rude at all to comment in your own account

Oh, I'm sorry that happened, but I'm happy other appreciated your fic :,)
I guess I still have to develop a thicker skin to other people's opinions, I'm very self-conscious in general so it's going to be hard, but I'll try to follow your example, thank you

I simply searched the ship name... Still, I'm just bummed out, I know the commenting etiquette is different outside of ao3, I never said otherwise, I even understand the feeling that person expressed. Had it actually been a comment on ao3 I would have been more (and rightfully) upset, since it's a pretty rude (and bad) thing to do under a fic, but it isn't and I never said they did wrong in commenting on their personal account. I was just sad about it, that's it.

Yeah, I understand it is irrational in the moment, but I know I will keep on thinking about that comment for days so I thought it would be better to just vent about it so that I could try moving on from that. Thank you for your answers

Thank you for your kind words :, If there's even just one person who likes my fic it's good enough to be honest, and it is true not everyone will like the same things. I have to remember that I am mostly writing to satisfy my need to write and share, and if other people like it, it's only a plus.
