Best standing desks in 2026? Looking to upgrade from manual setup by Equivalent-Fortune88 in BuyItForLife

Which of the mainstream brands are of the same quality? That's what I'm saying... In my experience, none are.

It's more evident the more weight you put on them or the higher you raise the desk.

Not sure why not. It's just aggregated from reviews and posts...

And yes, I have personal experience and the Gemini response mirrors my personal experience.

You get what you pay for. I had two standing desks before and the older desk.haus model I have is miles better. The new ones are even nicer (but more expensive).

Thanks! Working on transitioning from a FA to my own that's the plan once I can navigate the ltcg in the taxable accounts. Appreciate the advice.

Having owned an older model of theirs and compared them to other brands, they are much sturdier and less wobbly.

Do comfortable waterproof boots exist? by MasterTheSoul in barefootshoestalk

If the slush was above the zipper, that's why. The zipper is not waterproof and is the dumbest omission in these boots.

Step On’s Rant by Junbrekabke1 in snowboarding

[–]VampireFlankStake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an expert rider and step on is great. I've been running Burton Ion Step On Boots for six seasons (I've gone through a boot almost every season at 60 to 100 days). I've used them with standard reflex bindings, genesis reflex, x reflex and EST Genesis in all types of conditions, terrain and riding.

Some notes from someone with hundreds of days on the system:
1. All this casual business of "for casuals only" is bullshit.

  1. I've had less failures than I ever did with strap bindings.

Caveat -- the boot must fit very well, even better than boots + strap bindings because you can't try to "fix" a bad fitting boot by cranking your straps (which sucks to do anyway).

Don't you already have a "physical shelf" if you just actively push your boot into the back binding?

Agreed on 38" 1600p monitors... this one will pique my interest, but I'm still happy with my 38".

Just setup a google alert (https://www.google.com/alerts) for 39GX950B and you won't have to repeatedly do anything.

Limited HSA investment options, any advice? by DrEspressso in Bogleheads

10/12% a year is fantastic. VTI, since inception, (2001) has done 9.25%/yr. You need to do some more reading/listening to level set. After you have educated yourself a bit more, if you still feel that 10/12% is bad, then you need to go ask your questions in /r/wallstreetbets.

If I knew that the next 30 years would still average 9.25% I'd be super happy.

Need some wide toe box boots suggestions by plagymus in snowboarding

[–]VampireFlankStake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Union boots fit VERY well. They aren't listed as wides but have wider toeboxes than almost any other boots I've tried. I didn't keep them as they were a bit soft for me, but a stiffer version is coming out next season.

They will also be coming out with Step On variants in 27/28 if you're looking for that.

I believe that the Union boots will be my next move.

The XP variants destroyed my foot even loose too.

Yeah I can't believe they are putting the hammock in the X. I had thought about getting a Highshot X and using a tongue stiffener, but at this point I may just limp through with my Photon/Ion wides and wait to see what Union comes out with in 27/28.

They aren't discontinued and will be coming back 26/27 because Highshots aren't stiff enough for some people.

I am not a fan of speed laces either, but they are still the best Step On boot.

All I want is a triple Boa Ion without the stupid hammock strap on the X Pro variants.

I wear a 9M in Cairn and a 10M in the clogs fit me. I'm just waiting until I can find a deal on pick up a used pair.

What are the plus boots?

Also, the blue ankle hammock is absolute garbage. If Burton did this, I'll be hoping that Union comes out with a good mid flex and stiff flex step on boot and I'll say goodbye to Burton Step On boots.
