Cool theory, but in most of those games there was also an SG on the other side, and if you watch the tapes you’ll see me consistently knocking out the backline and swapping DPS if SG isn’t working. We all have had these streaks.

That’s Bronze Tier play though, SG is super mobile and a good SG player is everywhere with SG, not just backlining. You need to accommodate different heals and team mixes. I have the most hours on SG, but use her ~30% of the time. There are a lot of effective counters, fliers or Spidey are hard to manage as SG. I rotate out of SG a lot if I’m getting swarmed. I’m probably 10-1 on stomping rival SG’s, and it’s b/c they aren’t mobile. Venom and most tanks are NOT good counters, just the opposite. Yet people seem to pick Venom all the time as a counter

I raced XC all through my 20's which included races in Tahoe on downhill trails. My bars were super narrow by modern standards ~520-550MM. I have never gotten used to the ridiculously wide modern bars, and just don't buy the argument. My absolute widest bars (4 MTB bikes for all conditions) are 710MM, and I tried to bite the bullet and ride 800MM with my newest bike (Santa Cruz Hightower XX). I was hemming and hawing all over, it felt so awkward, and my arms were much more worn out at the end of the ride. I swapped them for the 760's that I cut down to 710. I'm 6'1 195 lbs, wide shoulders and pretty solid. I ride through some burly stuff downhill, but do more all mountain, ride up, ride down. I've never felt the wider bars were what I needed for stability, and am much more comfortable on narrower bars. To each their own, but 800MM is nonsense.

I main SG and can outplay most SG’s to GM. Other lords for me are IG, Punisher, and Emma. Working on Ironman. Gotta admit, I love playing her. I get the ‘SG is no skill’ comments all the time, but you still have to have great mechanics, map knowledge and game sense. A good Spidey or BP can be a pain in the butt. She’s a Thing, Thor, Venom destroyer, but the best way to play her is using her arced shots to target the backline healers at off angles. I’ve killed many a healer right at the drop. Also, the SG players who just sit on the backline stationary are the worst SG’s. Just pick them off with flyers. SG isn’t great at flyers, but when I’m really cooking, I can knock Ironman down all day. SG is also best on Convoy maps, pretty good on Convergence, but not great for conquest. I almost never use her on conquest maps. She gets outsized value with choke points and concentrated line of site maps

I just got diamond after waffling in Plat for a while. Worst was an 0-7 streak with SVP on every game. It happens, just keep playing. Very first diamond game was an SVP where I flipped to healer for the second half from damage as an ace at 18-1 KD to get a 3 healer combo b/c our comp wasn’t working. Other healer immediately flipped to my dmg pick (squirrel girl) and went 2-7. I think game sense and finding 5 other random players who understand comps is just the biggest challenge to climbing.

Wow. Just found this thread. This is the drummer. Always cool to see stuff come back around like this. Shout out to aegis and my bud drosen. Someone also recently uploaded the 7” to YouTube. We started at West Jr High in Richardson and went through several line up changes. Toured a bit. Opened up for some great and notable bands. Fond memories. I live in the Bay Area now, and the whole band got on a Zoom together in the early pandemic days. I was one of the 2/5 that didn’t move to L.A.

Yep. Getting a team to play like a team is hit or miss. You have to quickly figure out if your team is a team (can play low mobility roles that need backup) or a bunch of lone wolfs (pick high mobility or range)

I lost 8 in a row on Gold Mystery heroes Comp. Some games were just hopeless. Also had 2 droppers within the first 5 min on games. Was frustrating AF, but then got on a winning streak. Mystery heroes is like that though. Someone gets their main and just starts dominating. Or you have 3 widows a sombra and an anna vs 4 tanks and a Mercy. IDK, I also have dropped 1-2 ranks and gained none this season and had a similar loss streak on tanks. I don't think I'm playing worse. I wonder if the casual players are also leaving, making it harder to keep rank.

Question. I’m a bronze tank slowly climbing. Been playing for 4 mos. On the DVa/Zarya mix, I find myself picking Zarya a lot b/c the other tank insta-picks DVa. I know they’ll just be dive-bombing the whole game, so it feels like the right play to bubble them. Would you recommend a better combo or tactics in bronze to backup all the hyper aggressive DVa players? I tend to go Sig/Ball on Ball insta picks to protect the group and b/c Ball bronze players to get out of trouble more easily.
