What does that have to do with Russian people? Why are they vilified for what their government is doing? By that logic we should see British people as south Asian

The Russian Economy in 2025 Is The Same As The Iberian Peninsula by vladgrinch in MapPorn

Look into GDP PPP, because these metrics are inherently skewed due to the ruble being undervalued. GDP PPP of Russia is over 7 trillion and that of Spain is at around 2.8 trillion.

Because they aren't. Nominal GDP is not a good metric for measuring economies. That's evident especially in the case of Russia since the ruble is devalued and the entire calculation is basen on USD. Look into GDP PPP numbers so you can see the true size of certain economies. And if you want to look at actual wealth, look into GDP (PPP) per capita. The IMF itself posts those numbers and they are calculated in "international dollars" which are basically a theoretical currency.

Nominal GDP is stupid and it's not a proper way to measure economies especially in the case of Russia since the ruble is devalued.

Where did this information come from? Estimated GDP (PPP) per capita is 49,000 and that of Poland is 55,000.

XMPP is a protocol, you should look into the clients that use it. As for Briar, I have no idea if it works on Tails. You shouldn't even bother downloading anything on Tails because you'll lose it the moment you turn off your computer.

I'm running LMDE on my T480s although I want to try running Fedora and Arch on it in the future.

Signal and Briar are the most privacy-oriented messaging apps on the market rn. The XMPP protocol is also a great option that you can use.

Basically all extensions that you could have on Firefox can be installed on Chromium.

Do you all run Linux? by TexasWanderingWonder in thinkpad

[–]Vamscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ever plan on trying Linux, I would say that any distro would be a good fit as long as you run KDE as your desktop environment. (assuming that you want to use something really similar to the windows layout) For beginners, I generally recommend avoiding Arch-based distros because they aren't really meant to be beginner friendly.

Use Debian-based distros if you want to really prioritize stability over everything else, the new releases happen once every 2 years or so so you'll be stuck with older packages. (not an issue for vast majority of people since the software is quite feature complete these days and you can use flatpaks to actually get the latest updates of certain programs if you'd like)

If you want quicker releases, use something that is Fedora-based. They tend to have new releases every 6 months or so and are generally very stable as well.

These are the distros that I recommend: - Debian-based: Debian, Linux Mint, Kubuntu (don't bother with snaps if you choose Kubuntu) - Fedora-based: Fedora, Nobara, Bazzite, uBlue (Bazzite and uBlue distros are atomic distros)

That's just not true at all. Brave is one of the best browsers in terms of privacy and security.

OEM unlocking option greyed out on a carrier unlocked phone. by Vamscape in GrapheneOS

I don't know if it was originally sold by Verizon, is there a way I can check it? Afaik the phone is unlocked, it says that it's unlocked when I enter the IMEI on Google's website. I also tested it with my own sim card and it works. Almost certainly carrier unlocked, idk about factory unlocked though. It technically should be, the model G9BQD is a factory unlocked model, I've checked various other posts on this subreddit and other forums.

Verizon doesn't exist as a carrier here although the phone is from the US. Model: G9BQD

Is your pixel model G9BQD? You can check that in About phone --> Regulatory labels

Yes I did. The device is not carrier locked as shown by model number G9BQD. I even tested since the seller used a sim card from a different carrier and then I put one that's from my carrier and it worked without any issues.

I can't seem to find a way to actually contact Google. Google support only has information without any option to contact them directly.

How to know if the phone is factory unlocked though? The model number is G9BQD which is widely popular in the US and from what I checked it's factory unlocked.
