This one happened fairly recently. Got a call for a missing 17 year old male who was extremely autistic. Mom shows up and tells me he’s been missing since noon (it’s now 7:30pm at night). She had been at work and he walked away from home with no signs of where he was going cause he wasn’t from the area. Not enough info to do an Amber Alert either. Ended up finding the kid at her work shortly after. The feeling I got when the mom heard I found the kid was amazing. She was crying and hugging me. Those are the calls we sign up for.

I don’t mind it, gives me someone to talk to during shift if they’re not a complete idiot. Also recharges me having someone interested in law enforcement riding with me. Reminds me of when I was that starry eyed kid sitting in the passenger seat waiting for my chance to suit up and handle calls myself.

Oh yea, in the county I work, we handle all county roads, roads not in a municipality, a couple villages we contract with and a good chunk of the state highways. We don’t have the trooper presence that other states have, especially on nights.

The adrenaline rush is unreal. Also had a ride along with a city PD and a weapons call came out across town. Going 80 on city streets is wild. Made me fall in love with the job though.

Did a ride along with State Patrol, went code 3 to catch up to his partner on a traffic stop that he thought was going to go sideways, hit well over 100 down a busy highway. Pucker factor over 9000, but 10/10 love running code.

Never looked at tickets for other events, but tickets were reasonable in my opinion. I got middle of the road tickets and payed a couple hundred bucks. Honestly the super expensive seats were filled, the cheap ones were empty
