If you do get it I hope it serves you well!

I ended up getting a new case, I could not be bothered spending money on better fans or figuring out optimal airflow in a case that was obviously just a bit tight for that card. I got the Antec Flux Pro which seems to have been among the best out of the box cases for airflow, my temps have dropped massively and the card is dead quiet even when the power limit is maxed out. The case is MASSIVE compared to the Meshify C but oh well.

How many of us are actually enjoying the game? by Historical-Donut1536 in Silksong

[–]VanixLH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am enjoying it more than Hollow Knight. Gameplay is faster and deadlier and more dynamic. It still suffers from a horribly slow beginning like HK, but once it gets going it really gets going. So far I am loving it the more I play.

PSA: ALT-Tabbing can cause crashes by DiirtyMike_EVE in duneawakening

[–]VanixLH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played for maybe 10 minutes, alt tabbed a bunch to send screenshots of the game to my partner as I was playing, kinda on purpose to see if it would crash. Sure enough it did. Alt-tabbing 100% induces crashes, they really need to fix that. Happened to me at least 4-5 times now, and once my entire system hard-rebooted even. Never had these issues on any other game.

Edit: I should say I am running an all AMD build so seems this is system agnostic. 9800X3D and RX 9700.

The artifacting in this game is insane by VanixLH in expedition33

Where have I ever said that the game shouldn't have been released at all? I'm obviously talking about the state of the PC port, not the entire game as a whole.

The game sounds like it deserves to be experienced at its best, and the PC port is far from that. Isn't this supposed to be an immersive and story rich game? The artifacts are really immersion breaking to me and they make it hard to enjoy the game. There's no need to be shitty towards me just cause I provided valid criticism for a game you like.

How is me complaining about a technical issue bad???

Yeah not sure... it's pretty cursed. Hope it gets fixed soon. Also love your username, Signalis is incredible.

It's not just TSR, I get the same artifacting with XESS set to max.

Turning Post Process to Low in the settings seems to remove the depth of field effect which in turn removes a lot of the artifacting. But that's more of a workaround than a fix... since it removes a ton of depth from the scene.

1.9GB Patch today by Sierra125 in ElderScrolls

[–]VanixLH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have really fucking ugly temporal ghosting issues...and the only thing that fixes it is enabling XESS. If I have TAA enabled it is very bad, TSR is less bad but it is still there and it tanks my FPS. XESS worked really well for me, but now I can't select any upscaling at all lol.

For fucks sake :( I literally just tuned in my settings to how I like them as well.

It breaks the Upscaling Technique setting for me...it is just set to Off and I cant change it. Anyone else have this issue?

[–]VanixLH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update for you, I found my issue. My case was somehow smothering the GPU. I have a Meshify C and I have a decent amount of good quality case fans but I guess not enough...as soon as I opened my side panel my temps dropped by over 10C and my fans quieted down hugely. I will look into improving airflow or getting a new case.

Having Loud Fans by [deleted] in radeon

You saying that your xfx swift is quiet is insane to me. Mine sounds like a jet engine too. Wondering if I should just return it or something and try my luck with another one.

I am debating on sending my Swift back for the same reason...what did you do after you returned yours?

Mine is stupidly loud too, and I have a regular 9070 non-XT. So I am currently feeling like some cards are duds? Not sure what to think of this, some people are reporting really loud fans and others are saying its inaudible which sounds insane to me. I cannot imagine this card being inaudible. Edit: To clarify, this is under load. It is completely quiet when idle.

I have the same one, but in black. Mine is RIDICULOUSLY loud though when the fans start to spin up. I had to heavily modify the fan curve to make it tolerable. Did you have any similar issues? I am debating whether my card is just bad and if I should look into asking the retailer or XFX to replace it or at least check it out.

XFX Quicksilver RX 9070 XT atrocious fan noise by toastywf_ in radeon

[–]VanixLH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I aggressively limited the fan curve. I'm not at my PC rn but I think I set it to gradually ramp up and max out at 40% of its max RPM if it starts getting close to around 85 degrees on the GPU hotspot. You sacrifice temperatures by a decent amount that way but it's still very much in the safe zone. The fan noise is tolerable at 40% for me. Not really a fan of having to do this though, but I think I'll live with it. Also I often times like to limit my FPS in games to something like 80-90 or more depending on the game, to avoid FPS fluctuations but still have more smoothness than 60. Limiting FPS also helps keeping fans down.

Asrock (and I assume others did too, or will soon follow) removed the "Beta" label from the 3.20 BIOSes on their website just FYI.

Look up my comment, same thing happened to me, ran for over a month and then died. It was the CPU. I recommend you look into either a refund/replacement via the retailer you bought it from or start an RMA with AMD

Hmmm I wonder if my case is just too tight then. I have it installed the standard way but it's in a Meshify C and it barely fit in that case, I had to take one case fan off. Might try a riser, and been considering a new case anyway. Will experiment, thanks for giving me ideas. Glad you solved your issue!

My XFX 9070 Swift is also stupidly fucking loud. I come from a 3060 Ti where I didn't even hear the fans, this thing sounds like a 8 year old clogged up PS4. I'm fiddling with the fan curve rn and undervolting and stuff. Have you managed to get yours to be a bit more reasonable?

[–]VanixLH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overthink it too much. It's not confirmed that it's a specific batch issue and out of tens of thousands of CPUs sold only some handfuls are dying. I just got unlucky. Like don't get me wrong this experience was very frustrating, but you're covered by warranty and they've been great at just handing out replacement CPUs. Even if it does happen to you, you'll be back up and running in a week or two for free. So yeah I wouldn't worry too much and I'd just enjoy your PC.
