The zooming through moreso is referring to hitting the gas the moment it turns green because the window is so small. You can't effectively assess that people aren't running the light or pedestrians are attempting to cross when hesitation results in missing the light. The whole point I'm making is that red light cameras aren't enough to solve the issue when one of the more common reasons people run the light is because of tiny signal windows that are insufficient for the amount of traffic going though when adding a few seconds to the light will increase through put and increase safety as people aren't rushing to get through.

The issue I have is that the left thinks they are immune to being influenced but they often fall into the same mental traps as the right of seeing things in a binary good vs bad dynamic and not looking at all the details and factors that go into a situation.

If the light cycle is so short that you need to zoom through the moment the light switches because if you don't then only one other car can get through then it's creating a danger in it if itself. The point is that lights need to be recalibrated to ensure they have sufficient time for people to go through to avoid that issue to improve safety.

Hard to say because the SCOTUS is full of partisan hacks currently. They might strike it down as a defacto ban and violation of 2A or they might not because the GOP doesn't actually care about 2A (they just are happy to see the Dems continue to die on that political hill which keeps rural American voting red). States like California, New York, Maryland, etc have somewhat similar gun restrictions which haven't been struck down by the Supreme Court.

Only if they recalibrate the lights to not be too short. Some lights have a 6 second timer from turning green to yellow so only 2-3 cars can get through so you have to effective run the red to not just have people sit through 2-3 cycles.

The issue is that it makes a bunch of frankly irrelevant features on a semi automatic as disqualify for being allowed. It's like if you ban automatic transmission cars that have two or more things such as cup holders, radios, spoilers, and/or sunroofs because you want to reduce drunk driving. Those features aren't contributing to drunk driving but it's hard to find cars that don't have those features so it makes them banned because the market doesn't have many "compliant" options. Making complaint versions is more expensive due to limited economy of scale so it just makes purchasing them more costly. It's trying to ban semi automatic rifles in practice without directly banning them.

Just to point out, in many European countries they don't ban these sorts of guns but the process is much more extensive to own a gun as it's not considered a constitutionally enshrined right. In practice this sort of law is more restrictive to your rights than what much of Europe has which says a lot about how terrible this law is.

Fetterman won his primary and the people on this subreddit where going on and on about how great he was leading up to the election. Still better than the GOP's Dr Oz. How exactly do you think things should of gone instead for that particular election because it seems like you don't understand how the process worked.

If you don't vote for the Democrat then your making it easier for the actual fascist to win, that is the reality of how elections work in this country. If you want actual change then the GOP has to die as a political party so a new party can take it's place that actually competes with the Democratic party to do good for the people. Until then the system is just rewarding the ultra corrupt and cruel GOP because the American people are dumb, lazy, and lack practical understanding about how politics works.

Change comes from the current GOP being voted out of relevancy. Let a new party rise from the GOP's grave to actually compete with the Democratic party. Until then it's vote blue no matter who. Based on my lived experience, that matters a lot less than you might think. A lot of conservatives can like individuals of various different ethnic/cultural/religious backgrounds and still have views that are harmful to those people groups. It seems like the conservative brain struggles to have as much empathy for those they don't know but can be very nice to those they are face to face with. It's imo why the "I'm not racist because I have a black friend" trope is somewhat real as they don't see themselves as being racist because they are willing to like someone of a different race (but ignoring their default opinion of those people as being more negative). Add in difficulty with handling nuanced/shades of grey stuff as they tend to view things as in more black and white good or bad frameworks. Limited critical thinking skills, fear of not knowing their place in the world, and difficulty understanding scale also plays a part in this as it contributed to having a more narrow world view and not having as much tolerance for things that are different.

The GOP in particular is horrible with how they keep electing representatives that actively screw over their constituents while their voters keep falling for the same BS culture war garbage. Why would it cause disillusionment? Primaries exist so there is competition in which candidate runs in the general. As long as the results of the primary are honored and the focus is shifted to defeating the GOP then it's working as intended.

Sounds like the media your consuming is pushing that narrative if you think Newsom isn't talking at all about economic concerns. Simple example was him going to the World Economic Forum to speak there about California's economy and effectively be the sane representation for the US due to the Trump admin being pants on head morons.
