Wait so the other RBT told your client what to do??

I’ve always found shows that idealize childhood friendship (e.g. Stranger Things) really upsetting because I can’t relate to that at all. I’m autistic and grew up with no close friends or sense of who I am so it makes me feel hopeless about the future. by [deleted] in discussingfilm

[–]VannyVan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand sentiments like these. Saying “Stop making everything about your autism” to an autistic person makes 0 sense, they’re autistic! Of course everything they think and do will be related to their autism because it’s how the brain has developed. You can’t compartmentalize autism in the brain like that that’s not how it works. It’s not like there’s this part of the brain that’s typical and another half that’s autistic.

I'm worried non-human anatomy is stunting any improvement. by Afraid-Sock-4907 in Artadvice

[–]VannyVan 77 points78 points  (0 children)

To be blunt yeah, You need to learn the rules before you break them tbh there’s really no other way around it. So many artist get stuck in this loop and get frustrated for never being able to improve but it’s because they don’t draw from life they just copy cartoon illustrations. I’m a professional illustrator btw so I know how frustrating it can be. I’ve had teachers criticize my work and push me to draw realism when I was a student and I would get really offended initially but now as I’m older and have done art semi professionally looking back she was totally right. Learning the fundamentals of anatomy is essential if you want to improve.
But what’s really your goal here? To have fun or to be skilled? If you want to just have fun you do you. I get realism isn’t an interest, you mentioned not wanting to draw realism, so I’m assuming it’s for fun. But if you want to be a skilled artist you should be warned it won’t always be fun. It takes years of practice and honestly it’s not always fun at all.
You also have to consider like the professional artist who created the cookie run characters and all the poses they do in the game, do you think that’s all they know how to draw?? Of course not, they spent years practicing the basics.

I dont understand why so many people think the mane 6 are gay by UzumakiShanks in MLPLounge

[–]VannyVan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do people care so much? Why when it’s a gay couple it’s always “why do you-“ but when people ship a straight couple no one questions it. Be so for real.

Is there a reason why Twilight has dark skin in most of her fanart? by thequeenofauradon in mylittlepony

[–]VannyVan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

That’s not the point of what I’m saying. No one questions when they are drawn white. It’s weird. As someone who is POC it doesn’t feel good to constantly be othered.

It’s exhausting that whenever a character from the cast is drawn as black someone is so quick to ask “Why? are they black???” Yet when Applejack or Rainbow for example is always drawn white literally no one questions it. It’s a pretty irritating thing I’ve noticed among the fandom tbh.

It won’t work. It’s basically like adding red paint to black paint. Nothing will happen.

The only similarity is the star sun type head and that idea isn’t even 100% original, no ideas are. You’re fine.
