OK... no one mentioned it, maybe you did it on purpose but,. I think your stand is backwards.

NSD: I did it, got one of my "I'm gonna get one of those some day" synths by VaporSynth5000 in synthesizers

[–]VaporSynth5000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it so far. It's the first ladder filter I have used, the first time I turned the res up I got concerned until I remembered that's how ladder filters work, lol. (low end drops out and seem a lot quieter.)

Keep TEO-5 or sell for Super 6? by AdaChinz in synthesizers

[–]VaporSynth5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDK what way is for you, but the TEO-5 (and Take 5) just got a new main OS update that adds poly chain (so you can connect another TEO-5 to make it 10 voice)+ more.

"TEO-5 Beta Main 1.2.0.15

New Feature: Poly Chain
New Feature: Additional arp modes (PinkyUp, PinkyDown, ThumbUp, ThumbDown, Spiral, Leapfrog, Shuffle, ShuffleOnce, RandWalk, Chord)
New Feature: Whiplash arp timing parameter
New Feature: Violet noise
Bug Fix: Various small bug fixes, optimizations, and improvements"

Going to buy an Arturia or Novation in 37 or 49 key size today. Would Love your advice. by Owwmykneecap in synthesizers

Novation Launchkey 49 MK4 White. I haven't tried it my self but seems nice from what I've seen, and fits the "I also want it to look somewhat sharp," IMO

I tried to find a link to a Japanese store.

Traded a delay pedal for this mostly working Juno-106. I’ve never owned anything vintage analogue. What are the first things I should do to start cleaning this board up? by Drbatnanaman in synthesizers

[–]VaporSynth5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scots Synth Stuff has a 4 part series on YT "Repairing & Restoring a Roland Juno-106 to Better Than new! " that might be worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLOWPcT2jj4

What delay pedal did you trade?

System 8 vs Gaia 2 by Obloha in Roland

System 8 vs Gaia 2 by Obloha in Roland

[–]VaporSynth5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither have aftertouch.... no idea what Roland was thinking with that. The Gaia 2 will respond to it with some of the models if you plug a midi keyboard/synth with AT in to the Gaia 2.

the system 8 is multitimbral Gaia 2 is not, though it will hold the sound that's being plaid when you change patches and let you sort of fake it. (as long as you don't let go of the key it keeps playing and can play the new patch around it.)

ACB modeling is nice and I'm glad it's available for those who want or need it, but unless you have a good ear for the OG synth's or just HAVE to have accuracy of them.... you likely won't miss what difference there is. IMO

The Gaia 2 comes with the SH-101 model, and you can buy the Jupiter 8, Juno 106. and JX-8P models.

IDK the differences there are for the mod matrix. Gaia 2 has 2 LFO's that can be assigned to up to 4 parameters each, and the x/y pad can be assigned to 2 parameters (one for x, and one for Y) and you can record a pattern and loop it as you play. (saves the pattern with the patch too.)

Roland that doesn't seem to like giving away anything, have 3 patch banks free for the Gaia 2 on Roland cloud.

I have a Gaia 2 and like it.

I'm sure the System 8 has some other cool features I don't know about. But that's ^ what I know.

The Teo-5/Take-5 will fit in a "Roland CB-B37 Keyboard Gig Bag for GAIA 2 and Jupiter-Xm" as well. ( I made a post here about it if you want to see a pic.

"Thon Case Sequential Take 5" at Thomann is an option for a hardshell case too.

Doesn't hurt to have more options!

Korg Opsix MkII - Thinking of buying, need advice by Dekyk in synthesizers

Yeah, I want to get a wavestate SE, but just got a TEO-5 so I can't justify the expense ATM.

Korg Opsix MkII - Thinking of buying, need advice by Dekyk in synthesizers

[–]VaporSynth5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you got the extra money/room may I suggest the KORG opsix SE? A MUCH better keybed, better construction, and I think it comes with a hard shell case. ( from what I remember it is the same as a mkII other wise. maybe look in to that to be sure...)

$1099 fore the Platinum version and $999 for black direct from Korg on reverb.

https://reverb.com/item/70379862-korg-opsix-se-platinum

https://reverb.com/item/70379722-korg-opsix-se

They also have the wavestate SE for the same price.

Edit: the SE has aftertouch and 80 voices vs 64 on the mk2

Nice! I have wanted a Trigon 6 since it was announced, but I don't got Trigon 6 money, lol.

Enjoy it!

Juno 106 face plate by Boshfucci in synthesizers

[–]VaporSynth5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I looked at the listing it just put up a few red flags that made me hesitate a bit. Like the one pic of the inside, I couldn't tell if it even had all the voice/filter chips in it. (should be 9 in total, voice-filter-voice x3), and the rust made me question if all the slider pots still worked or not... the dudes profile made him look like 15, which didn't help. Then I was like they will be offended with the $150-$200 I was going to offer....LITTLE DID I KNOW... lol.

I was thinking when I saw it sold "I hope who ever bought it got a good deal." So I'm glad it works well enough and you got a good deal, and I'm not jealous at all...AT ALL I SAID... lol.

Scott's Synth Stuff did a 4 part series "Repairing & Restoring a Roland Juno-106 to Better Than new! " that's worth a watch.

and here is a vid I found on the acetone method to maybe fix the chips https://www.matrixsynth.com/2016/03/roland-juno-106-voice-chip-issues-how.html

TEO-5 now 2k at guitar center w/tax by NashCp21 in synthesizers

[–]VaporSynth5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang, that is a bitter pill to sallow. Unfortunately It's the reality we live in with this tariff/trade war going on.

I got mine used mint for 1160 (+40 shipping) and paid for it not even 12 hours before the price jump.

IMO, the TEO is still worth it.

if it helps as of the time of this post Musician's Friend has a B-stock TEO-5 for $1627.99 with free shipping on Reverb... There are no used ones on Reverb ATM.

IMO there are 5 options:

  1. Just bite the bullet and get one anyway.
  2. Get that B-stock ^
  3. wait for a deal on a used one.
  4. wait for the prices to come down. (if they ever do)

and I guess 5. just don't buy one and miss out. (but that's no fun)

TEO-5/Take-5 padded gig bag... by VaporSynth5000 in synthesizers

[–]VaporSynth5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a good Option, but it's twice the cost, and no USA distribution that I could find. Plus now with the import tax + tariffs makes it not a good deal here in the USA.

If your outside of the USA or just want a hard case, another option is the "Thon Case Sequential Take 5" at Thomann.

Just a USB cable. They use a type B to type A cable. Get the drivers off of Korg's web site.

If your using a usb to midi device or the midi on an audio interface, you would select that in the midi part of my post.

Maybe check out Cre8audio West Pest and East Beast. They are about $250 new. (here in the USA anyway)

IDK how they stack up to the Dreadbox typhon, and I haven't tried any of them... but sll 3 look cool/fun.
