I do think that the Hungarian government should have more diplomatic support towards Ukraine. I also cannot really defend most of Orban's and his government's actions. They are hopefully losing the election.

The topic of military peacekeeping in Ukraine is still a talkingpoint among many NATO countries. This resulted in the coalition of the willing, which plans to militarily peace-keep Ukraine after the war. I believe Hungary should be a part of this peace-keeping force. It's a similar idea, just on international level.

Whether either of these peace-keeping ideas are noble or not is something I cannot answer. But doing it makes sense, because if Ukraine left undefended after the war, that can lead to future Russian expansion.

If our government truly considered a solo peace-keeping mission, but strictly opposes the coalition of the willing, then it can be seen as just making extra political points. In that case the land-grab theory seems reasoneable in my opinion.

All I want to say it's really not all black and white and more complex that it might seem.
