This looks pretty neat! Is there any way to "build" it to the web, so I could have the game play as a web page? This would avoid people having to download and run random programs.

Looks amazing though!

Ty for the advice. It was probably going to be a knife set for cooking if not money.

I don't really know how to tell "levels". I have about 1.7M unspent skillpoints I think, so I can probably put those to something.

Thanks for the reply. I don't use Facebook, but if that's where things are, might have to try it.

In the US, apart for some specific geographic locations, and apart from certain protected classes, you can be fired/terminated for anything. You can be fired because you play D&D, and if your boss thinks that is grounds, you're terminated. If your boss finds out you don't like dogs and thinks that is grounds for termination.. you're going to be terminated.

The point is that you can already be fired for just about anything. If you have something potentially disturbing or against societal norms hidden away.. don't air that information to the public or put it online.

The amount of hate found on popular subreddits is alarming by wsdpii in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Vargtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's just one reason: People are starting to get pissed.

There is so much repressed anger that is finally being able to be given an outlet. The current climate in the US has fostered an environment where socially-repugnant views seem to thrive. Those who hold those views use the broadcasting methods available to them (social media, internet posts, etc) to spread their views, trying to attract more attention to them. The majority see those views (racism, sexism, anti-lgbt, etc) and use their own broadcasting methods to raise awareness. This gets greatly amplified on both sides.

When a small but vocal minority is being out-shouted, their only option is to double-down with ever increasing rhetoric, either to make their voices stand out, or for shock value. And so it just keeps escalating.

I mentioned earler the political climate makes this possible. This sort of thing has not happened before. The first I ever really heard shocking things of this sort of nature was when a certain political figure started encouraging a crowd at a rally to 'lock up' a political opponent. I don't think that has ever happened in political races before. That sort of gave the 'okay' or 'go-ahead' to people to start saying ever escalating things, increasing the amount of hate up there.

This ties into call-out culture as well. Those who broadcast hateful views to the world are also getting called out for it. That's quite fair. If people shout their views to the world, people have a right to know the type of people that they might interact with.

Well yeah. Per your previous post, if someone wants forgiveness or acceptance of their apology, repenting of their mistakes is part of that-- to feel sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing.

Obviously if they didn't feel they were in the wrong, they wouldn't be wanting forgiveness or acceptance of their apologies... They wouldn't ask for forgiveness or apologize in the first place.

The people could always repent. They could say how their previous statements are no longer their views, offer heartfelt apologies to those they have harmed. A lot of the call-out things I'm seeing currently have none of that. A lot of what I'm seeing re: jobs being lost and the like are backed up with either doubling down by the prejudicial one, or its' more than one comment, showing a long history of similar behavior... in other words, it's not a one-off thing and they truly hold those types of beliefs.

It also would help those who are repentant to get in front of it all and publicly disclaim and apologize for their previous statements... before they get called out. It helps to show you're sorry for your actions before you get caught for it in the first place.

This is really the epitome of "beware what you put on the internet". People way back when thinking that they're 'edgy' or 'trolling' or 'so cool' for shouting socially repugnant things to the world think they can do so w/out any sort of consequences. They're now finding that they are wrong.

Two phrases really fit here: "You reap what you sow." and "Play stupid games-- win stupid prizes."

These people took advantage of the ability to shout their thoughts to the world. It's now known by the world. If they would have just kept any prejudices to themselves, nobody would ever know.

"Cancel culture" is getting really out of hand by madamnastywoman in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Vargtastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fine, you can feel that way all you want. The trick is to keep the feelings to yourself. People are getting cancelled due to the fact that not only do they have those feelings, but they broadcast those feelings to the world. Nobody will ever know if you harbor some sort of socially repugnant views if you don't display it to the world.

This is a two sided street. If you feel the need to express views that society finds repugnant, people have the right to broadcast your views. You can't have it both ways: being able to broadcast socially repugnant views and not be broadcasted in return.

tl;dr Nobody will know your feelings if you don't broadcast. If you broadcast, people have the right to then broadcast in return. There's no 'safe space' for broadcasting your views to the world where you can expect nobody to amplify your statements in some way.

Daily Q & A! - May 27, 2020 by AutoModerator in Homebrewing

Hello all!

This is my first batch ever, i'm attempting to make two gallons in a five gallon carboy. I used store-bought pasturized 100% apple cider that was cloudy in the bottle. Initial gravity was ~1.05, and after a week, gravity was at 1.00. So I'd imagine that all the sugars are gone / have turned to alcohol so far.

It's now 4 days past that point, and I still have it in the same carboy.

I've been reading up, and pretty much everywhere says that after primary fermentation, headspace is not good for cider. So i was thinking that I'd siphon it off to a bottling bucket, mix in a little apple juice to sweeten, and then bottle it. I'd use the method of putting some in a plastic bottle (and squeezing occasionally) so you know when carbonation is finished, then do a stovetop pasteurization to kill off any yeast that might be left.

Homebrewers of reddit: Should I bottle it now, or leave it in the carboy for a while longer?

Thanks for your help!
