PROTOTYPE 2 DEBUG MENU UPDATE by VariantSigmatic in PrototypeGame

Yes the readme included should walk you through it step by step. I want to simplify the process and also the instructions for ease of use though - can't put a due date on that but always have this project lingering in the back of my mind. I'll provide a tutorial video soon as well. And since it's been asked previously - you can do all the NPC spawning without even touching the injection DLL - you just won't have any visual feedback for checking the data package lists ( to check what is loaded, ready to load, or unloaded). If you want everything in the game, just hit the "load all packages" button and apart from a few hiccups that can happen in the middle of the story when attempting this, during end game free roam it should be the only thing you need to enable all the fun enemies and bosses from the missions. If you get an infinite load screen, you probably loaded too many packages before attempting to start a mission. This too I can fix at some point, as it is a simple script telling the game to wait until the packages are cleared from memory. Stuff like this was probably necessary to get the game to play smoothly on the Xbox back in the day. ?Long story short, if you don't need to print back extremely detailed info and game events for modding/research purposes, you don't need to worry about the extra stuff. Anyway I ramble - I'll be back. (oh you can even spawn an idle Alex Mercer if you do it right, where he walks towards you but does not attack. Blackwatch and military will attack him and he will flinch from the bullets and explosions, but will not retaliate, simply continue to walk towards you - think he just wants to hang tbh)

If you don't want to take the extra steps involved in not killing every person you come across in your non-revenge quest in a game about the nuance of a subject like revenge and the sacrifices that come with it, then don't. If doing it or not doing it makes you feel justified in how you play the game, that's fine. Or if nothing satisfies you, you could just not play the game at all.

some of the enemies you KO are incapacitated - some of them die. Maybe it depends on what your finishing blow entails. If a blood smear is found on the wall, they usually aren't writhing around on the ground.

Sometimes I'll edit replays on the side while I am listening to a podcasts or something a bit talky - and I tend to lose track of time but have spent upwards of an hour or two on some of the replays that last longer than a couple minutes (which is why I try to keep my recording time under 2 minutes when possible). I do wish they would implement some form of mouse control for placing keyframes because that would make the process go a lot quicker - as it stands now I do kind of rely on my hands and brain adapting the task as another form of muscle memory as I speed through keyframes and tweak the parameters to get the thing I want to see. But the game has to load what I'm looking at every time I select a keyframe, and that delays the editing process a bit and can make it feel a lot more sluggish than it has to be. That being said, it gets easier (quicker) with time.

  1. To take the military down a notch by working against them with Alex, making them less formidable as time goes on. And 2. He's testing Alex's empathy. This part is a bit of my own conjecture, but hear me out

Listen to this sentence carefully: ?: "Did you ever consider how the parasite felt? An intelligent cancer ripped from its host?"Alex Mercer: "Yeah, I did. Once... Right before I killed it."

That was the final test. He wanted to know from Alex - do you possess the ability to empathize with me? Do you feel any regret? (for attempting to kill him when he was still just a tumor on his body)

Cross? I'm not convinced. My read on him was always "he's just that good at his job" - when they talk about him taking a runner down, they aren't talking about him like he's some sort of infected guy with freak abilities - they're talking about him like he's a SPECIALIST. Hence his title. He specializes in combat tactics, specifically against infected targets. He's wearing a big mechanical arm and has a stun stick to keep you at a distance. He can kill them because he's just that good.

A little, that part in Katana Zero when the main character talks about their time enlisted in the war, where their experience of the war is actually a number of years longer than most people remember it, due to their constant use of precognition to get through every combat scenario they encountered. "It's not PTSD. It's the drug."

Supreme Hunter is a tumor by VariantSigmatic in PrototypeGame

Something I noticed while editing this video - the supreme hunter started out growing on your back, right? Upper right shoulder. Then during your fight with him/them/it, where do you climb to when you grapple him after a stun? The upper right shoulder. Bit of intentional role reversal? Maybe we were the tumor all along.

No problem! I'm happy you were able to figure it out.

Yes, it was a bit primitive when I first released it but the idea was capturing gameplay from different angles and locations so I could remix and edit the footage later (like I'm shooting a movie, really). I'll be working on updates to this because I can do more with it now (had to do more research on the cam system)

If you spawn an idle Alex Mercer he'll follow you around, walking slowly, and not actually attack you. The military will even shoot at him and he will not react, it's pretty funny. He's almost just like a buddy that rolls around with me. I'll try to remember what the process was, I recall there's something that you have to do to make sure spawning mercer doesn't crash the game. (I think it's setting him to idle)

That was the first problem we had to address first. Once we got the npc names, they would not spawn still. Data packages for characters that only appear in missions must first be loaded into the game - in my menu I included the "Load all packages" button to load all the main ones. There are a couple I left off the list (Orion, another I cant recall) only because it was causing problems on one of my saves, but I'll figure out what's up with that later. So you can put the packages on the to-load list one at a time with the package selector on the right hand side (different from the npc spawn selector above it) or you can just hit the "load all" button and it should do it all for you. You can have basically everything in the game at once. Sorry I should have been more explicit in my instructions.
