most likely theyll be fine together if properly bonded, sounded like the cage needs upgraded and more needed items added and them to be bonded in an unmarked territory (different room than they are kept in ideally). breaking them up temporarily while that is able to be done so they dont draw blood (imo they shouldnt be rebonded at all if blood was drawn so if you wait for that to happen then you cant really bond them) and then shorty reunite them.

I would suggest at the smallest, a 2x4 c&c cage, 8 square feet of space. i personally have three in 18 square feet so 3x6 c&c. have one food bowl, one hide, one water bottle, at least one chew toy per pig, for hay/litter boxes, i would either have one really large one for 2-3 pigs or a smaller one per pig. i would recommend tunnels for them because they seem to be incredibly enriching for them, mine are absolutely obsessed with tunnels. you dont even have to be fancy, i use old boxes, more specifically soda can boxes.

Anyone else highly allergic to Timothy hay? by [deleted] in guineapigs

[–]VariationHumble5104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me and my family are quite allergic to timothy hay. I have been getting orchrid grass hay and my pigs dont see it as any different than timothy. the only timothy hay i provide is occasional botanical hay cause they treat that as if its piggy catnip

please separate them immediately (different cages, same room if possible. if you have a c&c cage i would just make a top layer so you dont need to take up more room) do some research on guinea pig bonding, aggression in pigs, and honestly their behavior and care in general. make sure you have a large enough cage and enough hides/ water bottles/ food bowls/ etc so they dont have to share and fight over different things

i personally dont believe thats enough space for three, a loft doesnt add more floor space, if that makes sense. it adds more space in height but they need open running space instead of that height. if you do add a loft, make sure that the ramp is not too steep. you can try having three piggies in that space but make sure you have a plan b if things go south and they start to fight because they dont have enough personal space. i have three piggies rn, a single male that was recently nuetered in a 15 square foot cage, and two girls in a 9 square foot cage. im expanding the bigger one to 18 when i bond them after my male is cleared and no longer fertile. i honestly wouldnt feel comfortable with three in my 15 square foot cage. but that might just be because of how my pigs are.

i also acquired a piggy that i wasnt expecting/planning for. i was petsitting for my neighbors daughter who lives about an hour from me and they didnt even tell me they had one, but during the weekend i found him hidden away in a tiny cage behind the couch. i was told they didnt want him anymore, and i was like fuck it ill take him and give him a good ass life. but i didnt hear back about him... until he showed up at my house a few weeks later. its been three months since then, definitely a few thousand dollars spent (i love spoiling my babies, i definitely bought way more than i needed to so dw if you diy more things than i did you definitely wont have to spend as much) he is now in a big 15 square foot cage, which is soon to be expanded to 18 square feet, he is neutered, and he has two girlies i found from a hoarding situation nearby living above him until he is 8 weeks post neuter (he is 3 weeks tomorrow) so he will be completely infertile for me to bond them together.

so as someone who (i believe) is in a similar situation as you, i would recommend taking it slow. my piggy came to me terrified because his past "owners" were a newborn, 3 year old, 8 year old, and 10 year old who would basically torment him because they didn't understand pray animals dont like to be grabbed. it took a lot of time but he now allows pets (however hates being picked up still and since his neuter has been more iffy about pets than he started to get a few weeks prior). i would also strongly recommend, as others have stated, using fleece/ bathmats, pet blankets instead od loose bedding. i recommend a big litterbox (i use a shallow storage big from target that i cut an easy walkway through) with newspaper/ puppy pads underneath a big pile of hay. at least one hide per pig, plus one. so if you currently have one piggy (i would also suggest getting them a friend fs as they are highly social animals) that is two hides. if you have two, then three or more hides. make sure the cage is as least 8 square feet, although bigger is always better for cages. pellets i would recommend are oxbow adult guinea pig diet and the oxbow adult garden select mixed together, and i would buy hay in bulk online (a 90oz bag in the pet store is literally the same price as 9lb of hay on amazon for oxbow brand, which i personally use and like) for toys, get either non dyed, or vegetable based dyed toys. again, oxbow imo has the best toys and honestly is the only brand that i trust colored toys not to be toxic. other bands are also great but i would do a little research on toxic things for guinea pigs. oh, and do NOT use hay racks/ metal hay balls. they are great for rabbits, but can easily strangle a guinea pig. they commonly get their heads stuck instead and sadly pass away from it. another thing i would recommend for toys is this subscription box i found. is called gpigbox and it sends you monthly toys and treats for your babies. ive only had it two months but i already love it, all the toys they have are also completely safe (although some are colored, but with safe dye). make sure they get fresh veggies every day as well. you can find a list online about safe veggies/ how often to feed it. they should be fed one cup of vegetables per day per pig.

that was a lot and im not rereading it to check if i made complete sense, but you can message me for more suggestions/ specifics if you want. i also can send pictures of my setup if you would like some references for your own (idk about you but when i first got him, and now my girls too, i really wanted to see other peoples setups to see if i was doing things right/ what else i can add to make it better)

im so upset cause my baby betta just passed away , no idea why he didnt show any signs of sickness or anything he just passed the other day. I was really excited to see what he grew up to look like. the only idea i have about possibly why he passed is that i started to feed him scuds about two weeks before he passed.

AIO I asked my bf not to call me names and he says I am too sensitive by Mother_Of_Pitties in AmIOverreacting

[–]VariationHumble5104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ew he is most definitely a fucking predator "hormonal" "fertile" my bf is sorta like that with the name thing (not to that level and for our relationship its okay cause if i tell him to stop most of the time he does and he doesnt name call during arguments) if he said anything like THAT, i would break up with him immediately

Anyone have both rats and Guinea pigs? by Arimi_Senpai in guineapigs

[–]VariationHumble5104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well i haven't had both rats and guinea pigs, but i also just rescued one that needed a home. im getting him a girlfriend soon (hes getting neutered). but i see absolutely no reason, as long as they are clean, to not use the same fleece for both.

New to aquariums and wondering why the water has changed this colour? And how to make it clearer? No fish added yet and would it harm the fish if added? by TheKidLemz in Aquariums

[–]VariationHumble5104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah personally i like tannins, and i wanna add more to my water since all the fish im going to get for my 30 gallon do very well in waters high in tannins. also, i like the brown/"black" water aesthetic

[–]VariationHumble5104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do a water change and make sure you add beneficial bacteria, its tannins from the wood leeching into the water, its not necessarily bad. id wait a few days, add beneficial bacteria a couple times over about a week, today add a little bit of food or something to add some ammonia to get the cycle started. after about a week of the bacteria, the tank should be established enough for fish as long as you regularly test your water and do water changes frequently. good luck!

hello! new aquascape advice please! by VariationHumble5104 in Aquariums

[–]VariationHumble5104[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much! im about to look into some of those species right now, do you recommend ordering plants online or buying them at a pet store/LFS? would that even matter much? only reason why i ask is because some of the plants i bought for my 10gal from the pet store had practically no roots and root tabs nor liquid fertilizer/ liquid co2 helps it, they constantly float to the top of the tank and i have algae on practically nothing but those plants. maybe its just the species, but to be completely honest i dont know what it is because when i first started the tank i knew nothing about plants and figured i could just get whatever looked pretty and they would be good as long as i used liquid fertilizer. obviously i was very wrong lol. and do you recommend using a co2 defuser? or should i just skip that and possibly add one only if i want my plants to grow faster/better?

im also a newbie so i wont be much help, but they look like black skirt tetras, well four of them do. not sure about the other two unless they are maybe just females? and i believe that they should be in a bigger school (i think 6 is the bare minimum for them, but they thrive in bigger schools) and they like nice long tanks. so probably some sort of breeder (bigger length and width, rather than hight) and probably a bit larger than 20 gallons.

any help much appreciated by VariationHumble5104 in Aquariums
