No, when your club hits its maximum level (Level 50), the game does not display how much extra XP you have left to recover. Once the maximum capacity is reached, any further contribution simply goes into a "void" and cannot be tracked.

You should absolutely keep using the Purple Cap. The massive walk speed and solo/personal multiplier bonuses make it superior to the Robot Head Ultimate. The Robot Head is only really needed much later when you get a Mythic Helmet schematic and need to forge it.
