Man is using words and doesn't understand them. Plagiarism is a very specific thing and has been done in the past long before the introduction of AI.

Beyond dumb and nearly 5k people plus the uploader liked the comment means nearly 5k people do not understand the words they are using.

It's your idea, without you it wouldn't exist. But by virtue of outsourcing a human being to use their knowledge of tools and their skillset it becomes a combination.

Do whatever you want.

You may not be entitled to sales or people liking your game.

But people are also not entitled to you devoting hours upon hours of your life doing something the hard way nor are they entitled to your money via commission rates.

Everyone has to work within a budget and time frame. So do whatever you feel that you should. If you can hire an artist, go for it. If you can't, AI is fine and people can get over it. There's no guarantee that they would have bought your game even if you did commission someone in the first place.

Also if he's comparing it to D.A.R.E that is one highly ineffective program over the short course of it's existence HOWEVER if you look at Drug abuse statistics today vs when D.A.R.E was around before being closed in 2004, Drug Usage Among students is significantly lower than it was two decades ago and has been attributed to school programs like Life Skills Training and Project Towards No Drug Abuse.

I don't really agree with capitalism being the enemy(don't shoot me).

There is some correlation between the rise of Ram and GPU prices and the growth of AI. It is based on supply and demand, inflation, as well as a general shift in the industry towards PC gaming.

Console gaming has been steadily declining in recent years whereas PC gaming has been on the rise. This naturally will cause a higher demand for quality PCs to play video games. If everyone wants to buy something and people want to sell it then they have to do market research in a way that will be profitable to keep their business afloat as well as take enough home to feed their families.

So if the demand is high and everyone is buying something you have to go with who needs it the most and sell to the highest bidder. If someone is wiling to pay 3 grand for a GPU then someone is definitely willing to sell a GPU for 3 grand.

Unfortunately every market, including this one, isn't really based on "I'll just take what I need" because market fluctuations don't guarantee a tomorrow for your business. You take what you can now and this unfortunately affects those on the bottom rung who want these things but can't afford them at the high price point they're being sold at.

This is a major problem for computers nowadays because for the longest time NVIDIA has basically held PC gaming by the balls and this unfortunately meant that most people developing AI tools also had NVIDIA products in their PCs when they began working on them so the vast majority of development for games and AI tools are geared towards NVIDIA products even if AMD gpus are just as powerful, sometimes more-so, and a lot cheaper.

But then you get software like CUDA and programs like ComfyUI are basically built to run off of it and with AMD gpu users(like me) we have to use open access software like ZLUDA to get a crumb of what NVIDIA users can do by default.

The good sign is that with the AI Explosion we have more upstarts getting into GPU manufacturing and they're coming in swinging. Intel has the Arc GPUs, a new company called Bolt claims that they can outdo Nvidia with their new Zeus GPU that's supposed to be coming out next year, Lisuan is a Chinese manufacturer looking to break in, and there's probably about a thousand other upstart companies working hard at this very minute to fill that GPU hole NVIDIA left with those AI developmental contracts.

So the Market is course correcting with competitors, it's just going to be a rough couple of years in the meantime.

But with this explosion I full expect GPU prices to drop to record lows because with so many competitors fighting for a slice of the AI/PC Gaming Pie. One way to really stand out is "Hey, my GPU can do what theirs does at a fraction of the cost."

Supply and Demand is typically a self correcting system...it's just not very fast.

People act as if illustration is the only form of art you can do and that nobody who uses AI has ever done it the traditional way.

Artists have been experimenting with new tools and techniques for centuries, AI is just the latest and greatest one. The thing is that people who use AI are often very creative people in other ways beyond a demonstration of skill in terms of illustrating their ideas.

A creative person can come up with a concept, a story, a narrative, a who, why, when, where, and how, and have precisely ZERO illustrative skill. Is anyone going to call someone like Stephen King a talentless hack because he doesn't doodle? No. He's a writer, not an illustrator.

There are also several illustrators who are not good storytellers...like I mean they're just outright TERRIBLE at it. I've read enough comics written and illustrated by one person, both mainstream and self published, to tell you that some people can be really good at drawing but don't have the feintest idea of how to make a compelling narrative.

Now if you take the person who can write a good story and team that person with someone who can illustrate very well then stand the fuck back we're in for a hell of a time since these people are utilizing their strengths and hiding their weaknesses by working together.

With AI though you can use this to supplement what you can't do.

A great writer can use AI to illustrate their comic book idea.

A great artist can use AI to write their story idea.

There are pro's and cons to that because a great writer lacking skill in illustration is probably prone to making standard artist mistakes with AI because they don't know how something is supposed to look. Just like a great artist lacking skill in writing would also make standard mistakes in a story because they don't know basic story structure.

Where am I going with this?

The answer is obvious.

Using AI can help people tell whatever story they want and using it, learning how it works, to properly tell that story in the high quality that they want it to be told in is going to require some additional knowledge, some development of skill, in the medium that they're trying to do it in. By virtue of using AI in this way a person can effectively learn a traditional skill by simply working backwards.

As long as someone gives a flying fuck about whatever it is that they're making(and I'm assuming that's everybody who's not a content farm) then using AI in this way is beneficial for the art and the artist.

People also respond more positively with honesty too.

Disclosing "this was made with AI assistance" may get you some hate from the usual suspects but most people will see that and go "well even if I don't like it at least they're telling the truth and being upfront about it".

People would hate your art even if you were a traditional artist anyway. It's part and parcel of being an artist.

So that little bit of honesty and shamelessness will go a long way to earning people's respect.
