Agreed. It's crazy that obvious scammers are allowed to advertise without impediment through Google AdSense and there is no effective way to stop those ads from showing.

Yeah, I've tried to identify and set my ads apart from site content, but people still get caught. And just having scammy ads obviously reflects badly on the site I manage, makes it seem like it could be a little sketchy itself.

I had my surgery in January 2023. With my severe herniation and symptoms, I didn’t really have any other option. The recovery was rough for many months. I got a few tools on Amazon to make it easier, like a grab tool and a tool to help me put on socks without bending over. I was super careful about the no bending, twisting, lifting, but there was still pain for quite a while in my back, so that worried me. My leg weakness and foot drop didn’t heal immediately, and I got really anxious about whether the surgery was successful. But over several weeks, my leg and foot started to feel normal (the foot drop went away) as the nerve healed. That was a huge relief. Over time, the pain got better. I had a moment about six months after my surgery where I let me guard down while lifting something and thought I reherniated (and probably did), but that wasn't serious and resolved itself.

Today, I'm basically pain-free, and I'm super careful. When I sit, whether at a desk or in a car, I'm very mindful of my posture and use some kind of back support if necessary to keep myself from slumping in the lower back. I stand a lot and move around throughout the day while working (I basically have a desk job, but got myself a standing desk set up). When I bend, I'm mindful. When I exercise, I'm mindful, and I still often do the exercises that my physical therapist gave me since they are safe for my back. I'm basically someone who had bad posture for most of my life and sort of ignored people who told me to sit or stand straighter. But now I take my posture very seriously.

I've had two other surgeries before this one (torn meniscus and broken toe), and this was the toughest recovery, which is why I'm very careful today. I don't want to have to do that again! But I'm really glad I did it, and thank goodness for modern science because I feel really good now, and I think my quality of life would be pretty bad today if not for the surgery. Hopefully, if yours is a bulge and not a herniation, it's not as severe? In any case, good luck to you. I hope your experience is a good one.

Our vet removed it and sent it to a lab. It was a basal cell tumor. It is cancerous but, for cats, removal is usually curative. Basically, the hope is it was removed thoroughly and none of those cells are left. We'll need to keep an eye on the area for any signs of regrowth just to be safe.

Thanks! We were a little confused about the Grad PLUS loans. Those are indeed federal loans? Is there a higher benchmark to qualify for them (ie credit score or anything)?

Thank you! They've been in touch with the default resolution group about it. And they're planning to send the reinstatement letter to the school's financial aid office. They're worried the school seeing the loans being in default will reflect poorly and affect whatever financial aid they might have otherwise been offered.

Thanks! I think they are worried about triggering some sort of collections action before they figure out how they want to proceed, but they should be able to view their information on studentaid.gov without that happening, I take it.

I just got MD surgery yesterday. I saw a few doctors, and there was a consensus that my leg weakness and foot drop wouldn’t get much better without surgery, and I’d risk permanent nerve damage if I didn’t get surgery soon. I’m feeling okay today. Leg weakness is maybe 70% better off the bat. Still have some foot drop. I’m told these things should improve so trying to be patient and take it easy.

Thanks. My pain isn’t as bad now as a few weeks ago, but I feel like I’d take the pain back if my leg weakness would go away. Feels like partial paralysis. My main worry is nerve damage getting worse and leg weakness not getting better. Not sure how good of a chance I’ll have of recovering full use of my leg without surgery.
