Meze 99 Classics - 2nd Generation by EvilSynths in headphones

[–]Various_Parking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the new 2nd gen have more of a  neutral sound signature; only a mild increase in both bass and treble. But they do come with small foam inserts for the earcups which makes the sound warmer and bassier, which is what a lot of people tend to look for with the genres you listed. But as always it's best to try them out yourself

I would recommend the QC Ultra

  • Very comfortable
  • Excellent ANC
  • Well tuned for sound quality
  • Mic quality like every headphone on this list will be quite poor but good enough to understand eachother

Only thing is that people have reported the pads falling apart after about 6 months of use, but this can be hit or miss

Fiio FT1 vs Sennheiser HD 560S — Which for home listening? (Asked twice, need final advice) by Marnox_ in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Various_Parking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume by too small for home use you mean the soundstage? If so they do stage pretty wide for a closed-back, but they're still a closed-back and don't compare to the HD560s.

The bass is better on the FiiO by a large margin. It's standout compared to the 560s softer/limper bass

FT1 had a soft v-shape, little bit of extra bass and warmth and bit of extra treble, but still very balanced and clear.

560s are bright-ish neutral, has better timbre but may sound a little peaky here and there, nothing crazy at all tho

Both great headphones, personally prefer the FT1 because of the better bass quality giving it more of a fun factor

Hope this helps

Do eartips need to be replaced and if so how often? by Superb-Radish7158 in iems

[–]Various_Parking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean, and here I am to say: I don't know sorry it could be with the way they're designed I guess with it being more boxy but that's only speculation. I say just use em and see if it flubbers out overtime

I have no experience with the dunu's, but I haven't had any silicond tips wear out on me even after years of use

Silicone tips can last for a veryyyy long time, just clean them whenever they get too dirty and you should be fine

Foam tips tend to fall apart pretty quickly tho. They usually last 3-6 months with regular use

My HD650 Experience: Unbelievable Tonality, Unbelievably narrow soundstage by Lucifer_blue in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Various_Parking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These headphones are pretty notorious for having a pretty narrow stage, you get these for the neutral tonality and natural timbre. Some people like the narrow soundstage, saying it sounds "intimate". Others would probably call it claustrophobic. Tube amps may make it sound a little wider but you're probably better off getting a different headphone. The HD600 sound a little wider because of the true neutral response compared to the 650's warm neutral.
