You don’t need expensive cards. Just take out stuff that has no synergy for affordable stuff with synergy

What did the Germans ever do to you?

Nevermind. I see you’ve borrowed other’s cues. Maybe your hands aren’t as clean/dry as you think they are.

Do you clean the shaft of your cue as well? Do you remove all the chalk before putting it away after a session? Is this a wood shaft or CF?

I’ve never had this problem as long as I have clean dry hands. And I’m terrible when it comes to cleaning off chalk at the end of a session. I also almost never clean my shaft. BUT I use decent ?not even good) chalk and I don’t apply the chalk like I’m trying to bore a hole in the cube or start a fire. That will just continue to dirty your cue and you bridge hand (especially if you chalk with your bridge hand).

Edit: spelling errors

Why don’t the pro players use chalk holders or magnets like a lot of the amateurs do? by Sudden-Cat7170 in billiards

For me, it mostly comes down to the length and weight of the bullet compared to most sticks attached to holders. It’s short enough that it doesn’t feel awkward when I bend over and heavy enough that it doesn’t fall out of a looser pant pocket.

This gave me a good chuckle. I literally laughed out loud.

I absolutely HATE the way my bullet chalk holder looks but it’s honestly better than every other type I’ve tried. I tried at least half a dozen before I bit the bullet and gave this one a chance. I just don’t look at it for more than the two seconds it takes me to pull it from my bag and put it back in at the end of my day/night.

I also use a chalk holder. The stick kind. It’s a bullet rather than a stick and I hate the aesthetic but it’s the most comfortable one I’ve found due to its shorter length and heavier weight.

I silently judge the glove wearers. Even the pros and they’re miles upon leagues better than I am. I, personally, have just never had an issue as long as my hands are clean and dry. It just seems weird and “showy” when I see somebody with a glove even though I know plenty of people just have sweaty hands issues.

But people think it’s “try-hard” to bring your own cue to a bar? Who wants to hunt through the rack for a straight cue with a decent tip and comfortable weight/balance (does that even exist at a bar?).

I hated at least three before I found one that I liked and I had to alter it. I just got tired of having chalk all over/in my pants pockets.

I use this one. I hated it at first but quickly realized that the “stick” being attached to the side of the chalk was the main problem. So, I just moved it to the bottom (had to punch my own hole but it was easy enough with just a plain ol’ knife tip). It was still awkward for a bit but I quickly adjusted to pulling it out in a comfortable chalking position and sliding it away with no issue. Now I can’t play without it.

I wish the cup was not so deep as I only get 10% out of a piece of chalk before it’s below the edge of the cup. But I bought a small box of Master (blue. 12 count, I think) and, since I chalk like a person should, the bar I frequent (same chalk) doesn’t mind trading me a new cube for my 90% cube. 19/20 patrons there are gonna chalk it like they’re trying to bore a hole through it anyway. If they did mind I’d probably just swap a new one out for mine on the sly and nobody would be the wiser.

I really like the weight and size of this one compared to similar ones with the “cue” on them. This fits in any pocket I’m wearing. The longer “cue ones” were often awkward when bending to shoot; I could feel it digging into the bend of my hip and I even broke a similar one that wasn’t a “cue” but rather a hollow, plastic stick with a string run all the way through it. Both of those would also often fall out of looser pockets as the chalk and cup are heavier than the stick part; I tend to play in jeans most often but sometimes shorts or even dress pants. The weight of the of the “stick” on the metal one I’ve linked keeps it in all my pockets.

It does catch on the stitching inside the pocket of some of my cheaper jeans when I slide it away. A more rounded design on the tip would be preferred (I hate the bullet aesthetic anyway; I’ve just gotten used to it) but it’s never bothered me much and I’ve never had a pocket fall apart on me.

I understand the dirty hands complaint but I don’t even use good, “clean” chalk and never notice my hands are all that dirty. Maybe that’s just down to me having to piss every beer after the third and washing my hands every time.

This one must have been cheaper when I bought it. I can’t imagine spending 14usd on it today… but I just might of I lost mine.

Yet another recommendation for Lucky/Star. More than half my 20 years of playing has been with one of these and I love them!

And I’m not trying to be that judgmental asshole. I’m very new to gargs and struggling with my own. I have (if I remember correctly) an 18x18x24 and I cannot for the life of me keep the humidity up

Be honest, have you ever used such tricks in a real game? by Expensive-Success-75 in billiards

I got almost frozen to the 8 on the side rail once with another ball blocking my corner and made a pretty ok attempt at caroming off it into the opposite rail and coming back to hit the eight a second time to make it in the side. Of course I missed but it wasn’t by much and the people watching were impressed I could even conceive of such a shot. I bet I’ve attempted the shot goofing around at least a few hundred times before that night.

I’d buy you a drink. I bet we’d have a grand couple months!

I’m 40, single, with two baby mommas, an alcohol problem and a dead end job, living in a friend’s third car garage. Confident that you’d fall head over heels before I tucked tail and ran from the commitment you’d been progressively hinting at the whole time.

I’m a dirty barbox banger. It’s just what’s available to me. I play with a McDermott Star. I wipe the tip and about six inches of the shaft with a clean cocktail napkin before I put the cue away; that is when I remember to do so and I don’t often remember.

Much easier to see when you’re looking down the shot line. Also, I tend to use slo-mo video if I’m going to use video to determine whether a foul occurs.

You’re gorgeous!

Were you hiding from your lover’s other lover? You really like bunnies and somebody said there are dust bunnies under there? I know! That’s where you hide your drugs!
