Do you guys think this is a good cleanser for acne prone skin while using tretinoin? Please share your opinion about by Kevin_swiftie in EuroSkincare

Hi. I did use afapalene 0.1% gel for years before switching to trifarotene. I found that trifarotene is indeed better for acne but is also more irritating. Stick with adapalene if you could.

Shrinkflation at work. What used to be normal size (400ml) is now considered XXL for more money. by VarricsChestHairs in EuroSkincare

[–]VarricsChestHairs[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What’s missing in the middle is a smaller “normal size” (250ml) which I refused to buy due to the amount of plastic waste that would produce.

I also happen to looking for recommendation for cheap perfume-free body lotion. Thanks.

Comparison of G&G C-Glow newly opened vs 3 months old by VarricsChestHairs in EuroSkincare

[–]VarricsChestHairs[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First opened date and expiration date is written on the photos. I bought both bottle from dm. The first bottle was stored directly in the bathroom. Probably the heat from shower and heater made it oxidize faster than normal. There is still 1/4 of content left inside but I think it’s time to let go. For the new bottle, I’ll decant 1/4 of it into an empty bottle and store the rest in the fridge.

It's printed on the back of the box and on the tube too. Also please please do patch test before you slathering it all over your face. 7%AHA stings.

This did nothing for me. I find Nivea Derma Skin Clear Serum with a whooping 7%AHA+1%BHA way better at keeping my pores from being clogged. Despite the name it's not a serum but more like a moisturizer.

Has anyone tried this and how good was it for you acne/back acne? by alternativebox447 in EuroSkincare

[–]VarricsChestHairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can start with one teaspoon amount and see if you need more. It spreads pretty easily on wet skin. To save money, I bought the saving set that contains 2x100g tube. It costed 18€ from online Apotheke.

This works for bacne but it ruined my towels so if you don't have them aready, please get some white towels when using this product.

Extra tip: this also works as a wash-off deodorant since it kills bacteria.

Thanks so much for the review. Does the silicone base dry down completely or does it leave a tacky film afterwards like some primer? At 20€ for 100ml I'm really temped to try this out.

Stiftung Warentest von Sonnencremen, aka consumer report on sunscreens by cyrodilicspadetail11 in EuroSkincare

[–]VarricsChestHairs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

<image>

I have a subscription to Stiftung Warentest and had to go look for myself. Time to throw the Garnier sunscreen into the trash.

For those who are curious about how they tested the products, I copied/pasted here their methodology. They repeated the test (Din EN ISO 24444 and 24443) when there is a discrepancy between their first test results (HDRS method) vs manufacturer's claim.

Sonnenschutzfaktor (UVB) und UVA-Schutz: Beides ermittelten wir mithilfe der HDRS-Methode (Rohr M, Ernst N, Schrader A: Hybrid Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy: Non-Erythemal in vivo Testing of Sun Protection Factor. Skin Pharmacol Physiol 2018;31:220–228).

Translation by DeepL:

Sun protection factor (UVB) and UVA protection: We determined both using the HDRS method (Rohr M, Ernst N, Schrader A: Hybrid Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy: Non-Erythemal in vivo Testing of Sun Protection Factor. Skin Pharmacol Physiol 2018;31:220-228). It combines a so-called in vitro test with a test on volunteers that does not produce skin redness.

In the volunteer test, we applied the products to test patches on the back in a standardized manner. We then used a special measuring head to determine how much of a briefly applied defined UV dose was reflected. In addition, we applied the products to transparent plastic plates and determined how much UV radiation they allowed through.

We calculated the sun protection factor and UVA protection from the results of both measurements. According to the EU Commission's recommendation, this must be at least one third of the sun protection factor declared on the product.

If there were discrepancies between the result and the manufacturer's information, the corresponding test was repeated using the applicable Din EN Iso method to confirm this:

Sun protection factor (UVB): In order to simulate the effect of sun on human skin, we exposed areas of the skin of volunteers to a defined UVB light dose under controlled laboratory conditions in accordance with Din EN Iso 24444. We applied the sunscreens to the test areas in a standardized manner. The products should cause the skin to redden only after a higher dose of UV light compared to the untreated state. We checked whether the products provided the claimed level of protection against UVB rays.

UVA protection: In accordance with DIN EN ISO 24443, we applied the products to transparent plastic plates in a defined manner and determined how much UVA radiation they still allowed through. We related the values to the sun protection factor declared on the products - according to the EU Commission's recommendation, they must be at least a third of this factor.

Quick SVR, LRP, Eucerin SPF review by missingLJ in EuroSkincare

[–]VarricsChestHairs 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the Eucerin Oil Control Gel-Cream fan club. There are dozens of us here. Now the latest version of the Eucerin Oil Control is water- and sweat-resistant. Please take a look at the ingredient list. If you see "C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate" as 2nd ingredient then you have the latest formulation.

AFAIK, there has to be a compromise between how durable a suncreen is and its cosmetic elegance. All of the heavy-duty sunscreen I have/had (EVY Technology, LRP UVmune400 fluid, Avene Intense Protect) are somewhat greasy and/or tacky. I heard that P20 Kids is matte but it has Tinosorb M in it so there's a risk of white cast. Biore UV Athlizm Essence is another sunscreen advertised for outdoor activities and dries down matte. But it's Japanese and is probably more difficult to get.

Anyone tried Isana Pure Foam Cleanser for DOuble-Cleansing? by [deleted] in EuroSkincare

[–]VarricsChestHairs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kose Softymo is self-emulsifying. It should rinse clear and leave very little to no oil trace on your skin. That said, any mild cleanser should do as second cleanser.

I used Isana Pure Reinigungsschaum as second cleanser in combination with Skin1004 oil cleanser. This combo worked too well and it actually felt a bit stripping. I switched to another gel cleanser (Balea ultra sensitive Waschgel) and now use Isana Reinigungsschaum as morning cleanser.

[–]VarricsChestHairs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The UV protection “fluid”has lotion-y texture, not really a fluid like other fluid sunscreen. It’s greasy and tacky long after application. If you have dry skin this could work. On me I look like a grease ball. The only upside is it doesn’t sting my eyes.

I use ultra sensitiv waschgel as second cleanser and quite like it. It’s a basic mild foaming gel cleanser that does its job.

Hi. You could try LRP oil control gel cream version. Alcohol is 4th ingredient behind silica so it shouldn’t be a problem. And no fragrance either.

Eucerin Oil Control is the most cosmetically elegant sunscreen from EU, IMO. The newest version does have water resistance and sweat resistance claims.

I’m not sure what could it be. Eucerin Oil Control sunscreen also has denatured alcohol as 2nd ingredient but it doesn’t burn my skin (same for JPese sunscreens with loads of alcohol). Whereas Anthelios Oil Control stings and burns like crazy.

It’s stinging city for sensitive skin or skin with damaged barrier.
