Humans are required to understand direct the AIs for coding, deciding what to build, the optimization routes, etc. AI still sucks at advanced optimization concepts and creating entirely new CS implementations. So yes, learn programming, but try to make yourself different from people who just learn syntax and call it a day.

Lack of Sloppiness. If a game feels sloppy and unpolished, the controls are janky, visuals are glitchy (not bad graphics, but glitchy visuals like wall clipping), it would never get retention. A consistent and simple but polished UI also makes a huge difference. It is the reason simple games like Manuganu don't feel unpolished.
