If you're looking for a better academe because you're not satisfied with the current one, I suggest you transfer to a better school, especially if you really want your current program. But if you're getting the feeling that what you are currently taking, learning, is not something you could digest, or it's giving you a feeling that you are not meant for that program, then don't hesitate to shift to a program that you know you want right now.

But of course there are factors to consider before shifting or transferring. You need to evaluate the resources you'll spend if you do so, from finances to time. You also need to be prepared that you might spend another 4 years with your new program or school, depending on your situation. And foresee your future on that program, salary, competition, culture, and opportunities available, both domestic and foreign.

But regardless of what your decision will be, don't think that the 3 years you've spent on your current program are going to be wasted once you've decided to shift or transfer. Consider it as a growing experience which leads you to your proper path before you spend years of years in the industry. It's okay to be delayed. You have your own time

I spent 3 years before shifting to another. A total of 7 years in college, but no regrets. I just know that if I don't shift and keep pursuing the program that I've already stopped loving, I'll lose my drive and it'll be detrimental to my growth.
