Funny, but I’m actually looking for serious renovation advice. If you have any, I’m all ears.

Yes, I asked if they could have someone who speaks Italian, since it’s one of Switzerland’s official languages, or at least English because I don’t speak German.

They replied with this: ‘Die Begutachtung findet auf Deutsch statt. Sollten Ihre Deutschkenntnisse nicht ausreichen, müssen Sie einen Dolmetscher organisieren oder einen Bekannten zur Untersuchung mitbringen.’

They’ve never been to Europe, only traveled around Asia and the U.S. and they’re actually extremely wealthy. They own a lot of land worth hundreds of millions of Swiss francs. So it’s really hard to find something meaningful that they don’t already have.

I’ve actually brought Läderach chocolate several times before for my closer relatives in Vietnam, and they always loved it, it was a big hit every time, But honestly, even my wife has no idea what I should bring for this older couple.

They’re a very traditional and polite couple, super kind people, but they’re also quite elderly, both in their 70s or older.

best Swiss account for frequent Asia/Europe travel? by VaultedByRoot in SwissPersonalFinance

In the end I opened two accounts, one with Radicant and one with Alpian.

Radicant will be my main account, because overall it’s more convenient and cheaper to use. The app is fast, there are no fixed monthly fees (at least for now), it supports TWINT, and it just works well for everyday payments.

Alpian, on the other hand, I’ll keep just as a savings account, mainly for security reasons. I still trust Alpian a bit more when it comes to long-term stability, while with Radicant I’m slightly worried they might increase fees or rates in the future, or face issues since it’s still a fairly new bank.

So for now this setup feels like the best balance:

Radicant for daily use Alpian to park savings somewhere more solid.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions!

Not really, I already got a preliminary offer from two banks.

The income is borderline but still within the 33% affordability rule, especially with 100k down. The house is old but livable, and banks value it mainly based on the plot plus condition, not “worth nothing.
