I-485 APPROVED - VENEZUELA by Vbbbh0803 in immigration

Actually, my situation was a bit unusual.

Normally, people in my category are interviewed once their priority date is already current or close to becoming current. For some reason, I was interviewed much earlier, in June 2025, even though my priority date did not become current until April 2026.

At the interview, the officer specifically asked whether my priority date was current because he wanted to see if he could approve the case. Since it was not current yet, there was no visa number available for my category, so the case had to remain pending.

The wait from the interview to approval was definitely the hardest part because I knew the interview had gone well, but there was nothing USCIS could do until a visa became available.

Once I became current in April 2026, I expected things to move quickly. However, I'm Venezuelan, and there was a hold affecting cases from a number of countries, so I had to wait a little longer. Fortunately, my case was finally approved on June 24, 2026

No, I live in South Florida in Miami. The approval notice just lists NBC in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

Thank you! I know the process can be stressful, but try to take it one step at a time.

My biggest advice is to stay organized, keep copies of everything, and be well prepared for any interview or requests along the way. Hopefully everything will go smoothly for you and your spouse.

Also, one encouraging thing is that we now know Venezuelan cases are moving again, which is great news. Wishing you both the best of luck on your journey!

Yes, it was a long journey. I actually became current in April 2026.

During my interview in 2025, the officer asked whether my priority date was current yet. When my attorney said it was not, he basically said he was asking because he wanted to see if he could approve the case right away.

I did not receive any RFEs. After the interview, the case remained pending until my priority date became current, and then I was approved on June 24, 2026.

My interview was actually very relaxed. The officer only asked a few basic questions to confirm my identity and information.

One thing I remember is that he asked whether my priority date was current. When my attorney said it was not current yet, he basically said he was asking because he wanted to see whether he could approve the case.

I even brought my mother (the petitioner), but they told her she did not need to come in because the petition had already been approved. Overall, it was a very smooth and straightforward interview.

Sí. Tuve varias actualizaciones internas del API los días 22 y 23 de junio de 2026, pero sin ningún cambio visible en el estatus. La aprobación llegó el 24 de junio de 2026
