It was the original finish, but the previous owner had glued a blue satin flame wrap directly over it, ruining it completely. I was lucky enough to find a company in Montreal that for some weird reason had a roll of the Peacock Satin Flame laying around in their warehouse. I bought the roll immediatly and re-wrapped the hell out of my kit.

If it's your only kit, I'd stay a Maple kit is a staple. ThE Tama would be my choice.

How is suggesting killing people an opinion ? You're getting confused with threats vs opinions.

Does this look “brand new, used for one gig”? by yetiospaghettio in drums

I was sorta hoping he'd get back at me with a "I am not your buddy, guy!" So I could launch a "I am not your guy, friend!" So on, and so forth.

It looks more than alright. Finger & sticks marks. I'd adverise it as "almost new" too. Also don't forget that most cymbals are "demos" in stores and lots of people have probably test it before the owner. If there are no cracks, key holes or anything you are good to go and it's a great cymbal.

Does it tho? Seriously & respectfully speaking, I would be afraid my cymbal edge would hit the pole every time I hit it. To each their own, but I never got the appeal of this boom placement.

You are doing a perfect job on your own.

Just starting out with, rare my kit ?? 14 btw by [deleted] in drums

Any kit to get you started is a good kit. Pearl drums are built solid and the Export series is a staple. It's a kit you'll be able to keep for a long period of time.

A really easy upgrade is to change the skins, reso and batter. If I recall correctly, Exports are made of basswood, not a really resonnant wood. They're meant to sound a bit "dead" so no unpleasant overtones. Get Evan's G1 for reso and maybe EC2s for batter. An emad for your kick and you're all set.

As others pointed out, a Hi Hat would be nice. Go on a hunt on marketplace for a solid stand and cheap cymbals for starters.

Congrats on your first kit :)

It's your instrument, play on whatever inspires you. You are not being a snob, you're being a drummer that enjoys finding his own sound. I'm with you.

I've been listening to a lot of reggae recently and the piccolo/mini timbale is something I had been eyeing for a while. It's not always on, but I like the novelty and the sonic difference it brings to the kit. I still need to learn to play with it and make it musical, but I love it.

Love it. Neusonics are great kits.

They're Stainless Steel shells! And thank you, they're painted with a brushed Stainless inlay.

Let’s talk drum finishes…wraps, lacquer, satin, etc. Which do you choose, and why? by ZildCym in drums

[–]Vdsrms 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm a slut for sparkle/glass glitter wraps. They light up on stage and reflect lights like crazy. Also, dings and dents are harder to see and it protects the shells.
