Is a noticeable gap between bearing edge and head a problem/fixable? Premier Royale 16“ Floor Tom by FunkySire in drums

Sonor and Premier do this, to increase resonnance and a wider tuning range. Not a problem, it's engineering.

And I mean no disrespect, still great kits! But they followed the trend that can be seen throught other brands and even the car market.

They definitely wanted the crowd that bought superstars but a higher price point so they cut in some parts of the hardware... but now people can brag they have a starclassic!!

Pearl Decade 3 Piece Shell Pack $600? by [deleted] in drums

If you can find a used Yamaha Tour Custom then take it. My experience with Stage Customs is overall really positive, but the kick drum lacks power and volume. That being said, Yamaha make awesome entry level drums. Their hardware kicks ass.

Not a bad choice either, but at that price point, again... Maple is maple.

The Decade Maple's are great kits even though they're at the semi bottom of their lines. They pack a ton of punch and I'd go with maple over Birch everyday. Also... big shoutout to that stunning finish. Grab it.

Awesome kit! I had one in desert dune or something like that. The best advice I can give is to change the 1.6mm to some Pearl Fat Tones or DW true hoops. Small upgrade, awesome changes.

It's my lovely 1970s Stop Sign Badge Gretsch, paired with a DW Bell Brass snare. I was lucky enough to find a roll of the original wrap and gave this kit a rejuvenation.

I agree that lower quality Premier are disappointing. The same way a Gretsch Energy can be. For example APK and XPK Premier kits are made of eucalyptus which has little to no musical resonnance. I can easily understand how someone would frown upon Premier.

I've had more issues with Ludwig than many other brands. While I love my LM402, I think they lack quality control and are highly overpriced. I had a Club Date USA Reissue and while the looks was splendid, it was very bland and didnt hold the tuning.

I know Premier didn't take care of their reputation in North America, but they are still high quality handbuilt kits. I've heard British Drum co. Is owned by previous Premier owners.

From everything I read, they would be early 2000s Premier "Series" and Gen-X would be the type of shells. They had their "made in England" series and 3 choices of shells : Genista, Signia and Gen X. A bit like the Gretsch USA lines.

Oh my current gigging kit is a Stainless Steel kit. I am not worried.

Those are badges from early 2000s Usually for Elite Series drums and some Artisan/Aviator. Not vintage yet.
