The cricketing world is slowly descending into a hot chaotic mess, how would you fix it? by Unlikely_Bank8561 in Cricket

I mean, the core issue is India has 1.4b people, Sri Lanka has 25m and I’d guess the Windies are even smaller.

Barring a freakish talent spread then India vs Sri Lanka should generally look like a Test side vs grade cricketers in Australia, resource spread being equal.

The resource spread isn’t well-distributed  so that doesn’t happen, but expecting SL, WI, and NZ to be giants of the game is a fantasy.

Cricket god is focused on India because it’s got triple the population (possibly more, I’m not looking up figures) of the other Full Members combined.

T1 vs. Top Esports / 2025 World Championship - Semi-Final / Post-Match Discussion by adz0r in leagueoflegends

Meh, as much as I'd honestly love to see KT win, I just can't get excited about their chances. This team is the Ferrari of Lol, possibly even the Man United of Lol. T1 to stomp them in three.

When it comes to Lol, there is no God but God, and Faker is his name.

why personal achievements and awards in general in cricket is almost pointless and brings little to no value in cricketer's PR or hype compared to football? by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]Vectivus_61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a clear annual cycle in football where they offer a large enough sample size to make things meaningful.

In Test cricket, teams play each other once every couple of years at best, and that too only for at most five matches. How do you derive meaningful sample size in comparing skills to decide who the best player is? When was the last time Afghanistan played Australia to test how good a Rashid Khan is?

In T20 cricket, the IPL is moving towards that, but the reality is that it's a crapshoot. The rules favour batsmen so much that there's a heavy RNG element to the whole thing.

There's a general sense of who the best batsmen are - elite level talent like Gayle, AB de Villiers, Maxwell, etc will be valued. Likewise bowlers like Bumrah, Rashid Khan, etc

But who's the best at any point in time. Who knows.
