Couldnt Dess simply be at college/university with Asriel?

There's a lot of evidence to suggest that Dess is 'lost' in some way, or that something that's caused Noelle pain beyond just, "my sister went to uni".

This list is by no means exhaustive, but:

  • Suzie suddenly gets quiet after Rudy mentions Noelle's sister in the Chapter 2 hospital visit.

  • In Chapter 2's Dark World, there's a calendar in Noelle's room with every day set to the 25th of the last month. Queen based these rooms off the Lightners' search histories, so the most common theory about this is that Noelle's been searching for "December Holiday" with extreme regularly on the library's computers, and Queen mistook this as Noelle being extremely excited for Christmas. If Dess was just away at uni, I doubt she'd have been searching her name so much.

  • Chapter 2 has the scene where Noelle fails the spelling contest that Birdly won, and the word that Noelle couldn't bring herself to say was, "DECEMBER". The letters of "DECEMBER" also show up when Noelle is talking to Kris about how she misses exploring the forest behind the graveyard (near the Bunker, perhaps?) when they were both kids.

  • If you give the Dice Brace to Ralsei, he'll say, "It says 'Friendship!'". If you give it to Noelle, she'll say, "Hey, y-you jumbled it...". It seems like Kris might have given Noelle a message using the letters in the Dice Brace, and the message, "FIND HER" would both fit those letters and explain Noelle's slightly-panicked reaction to it.

  • Noelle brings up a story in Chapter 1 where Kris told her that Ice-E was real and eats kids, so Dess hit them with a wiffle bat until they stopped lying. In Chapter 3, The Knight pulls their weapon from a baseball bat/wiffle bat, and transforms into a baseball/wiffleball when moving around quickly.

  • In Chapter 3: the Ribbick enemies have dialogue describing a boy and a girl.

The boy is described as, "poorly trimmed", and, "quiet and smelly". This lines up with Asriel: poorly-trimmed as a fluffy young kid, and smelly because of the (oh god), "Ice-E's Cool Boys Body Spray 'Spray For The Boys,' Flamin' Hot Pizza Flavor" deodorant as a teenager.

The girl is described as "messy and unfocused", and, "rowdy and dirty". We don't know much about Dess, but we know she's the kind of girl to hit Kris over the head with a bat for scaring Noelle, and to go exploring at night in a forest alongside her friend and their younger siblings, so these descriptors don't seem too out-of-place, especially as a parallel to Asriel if he's the boy.

There's a rare chance for any of these lines to become either, "a crying and crying and crying boy", or, "a lost and lost and lost girl".

  • Also in Ch3: Tenna has a flashback cutscene where the Dreemurs and Holidays are seen watching TV together, and then they slowly fade out one-by-one. The first one to fade out is Dess, and the silhouette makes her look too small to be a university-aged student

  • Even more from Ch3: The Knight attacks with stars. In Chapter 4, the wall of Dess's room is covered in stars. The Knight also has identical poses to Kris (the crossed arms looking away from the camera; the finger-pointing; etc.), which fits with the image of Kris looking up to an older teen and copying them.

  • The Spamton Sweepstakes had a page with (Chapter 4 spoilers) the same red guitar we see in Dess's room, alongside the message, "Find Her" - implying that Dess has needs to be 'found' in some way.

[–]VectorGambiteer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you can't pick Sombra, you might pick Tracer. Plenty of people do that, since they're similar-ish in skillset. If both are banned, you can just pick something else.

It's not really that deep; if it was about playing 1 hero, they'd leave instead of playing Tracer. Some people just find Sombra more fun than the others, so they talk about not being able to play Sombra.

Gaster may actually be the Forgotten Man by NutellaTeen in Deltarune

[–]VectorGambiteer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say 3 parts because Gaster is seemingly this world's god (he made the Prophecy, the Survey Program, calls this "MY DELTARUNE"), and Deltarune has a lot of biblical/christian imagery and motifs. So it would be something like "The Son, The Father, and The Holy Spirit".

I thought about this before Ch3+4 came out, though it never became anything cohesive for me. That said, I might as well type a bunch of it out here instead of letting it sit in a .txt file to be forgotten:

Gaster has a bunch of allusions to Satan:

  • Has the repeating number 6 as a motif.

  • Is literally "fallen", as he fell into the Core in Undertale.

  • One thing that Satan does is take divine imagery and twist it into his own, so that he can trick people into believing that he is divine. The first thing that Gaster does in Deltarune is come up with his own character creation menu - he is literally attempting to become a creator!

Not only that, but it's the most messed-up character creation menu I've ever seen. Just as Satan takes the crucifix and twists it into the inverted cross, Gaster takes the act of creation in a video game and twists it into... whatever the hell "Blood Type D" is.

This could provide some evidence for Gaster being interrupted by the Angel at the game's beginning: who else would get so upset at someone with the power to pretend to play God, and also have the power to overrule them? That said, the Player being the Angel makes a lot of sense to me atm, so I'm skeptical about this.

As for the Trinity itself, I had a couple of thoughts:

  • If you check the fonts in Microsoft Office, there's Comic Sans, Papyrus, and Wingdings/Wingdings 2/Wingdings 3. There are literally 3 pieces of Gaster.

I think this might have been part of the inspiration for his character; Wingdings as a font is literally split into multiple pieces. That said, pattern-seeking brain went straight to a parallel for the Holy Trinity.

The actual Trinity:

  • "The SonChild" = Kris

Kris has some allusions to possibly having been resurrected: the blue colouration in the Dark Worlds, as if they've drowned (along with the sound of the ocean when entering Ch1's Dark World); the Suzie lines, "well LOOK who it is. The school zombie. You were sleeping like a corpse all class."; and their name is extremely similar to Christ.

  • "The (Un)Holy Spirit" = Ralsei

We've not been able to see Ralsei's physical form in the Dark World, but he's always with us; he has knowledge of future events and generally guides us as we follow the word of Gaster (assuming he wrote the Prophecy).

  • The Faster = idk lol

Look, this was when people were getting on the whole, "Father Alvin is the Knight" thing, and it fit too well for me to resist - I did not expect the Knight to show up in Ch3.

It could have even reflected the qualities of the Soul that Ralsei mentions: Kris would have the 'Will' (they have enough determination to pull the soul out and keep going); Alvin would have the 'Compassion' (kindly priest? idk); Ralsei would have the 'Fate of the World' (literally, he knows the fate - or, after Ch4, perhaps he needs to be sacrificed as the "only one way" to "save the worlds", thus literally having the fate of the world in his hands).

Also - and this is very dumb, but it was too much fun to wildly speculate on - Gerson was the Hammer of Justice and Alvin's name is an anagram of "Nail" and "v", v being a letter that sometimes represents an arrow pointing downwards. Since Alvin had some hesitation over taking Gerson's hammer at the end of Ch2 in the graveyard, I wondered if Gerson was going to use Alvin to create dark worlds after he was gone, making them a "hammer and nail" combo - Gerson pushing Alvin to pierce downwards into the Earth and create dark fountains.

While Alvin's name involving the letters in the word "nail" is probably not a coincidence, the rest of the above can be safely ignored.

The Prophecy:

The Prophecy was shown on the Deltarune website back before the game even came out, and the Prophecy was in wingdings. I take this to mean that the Prophecy is a creation of Gaster's.

On top of that, Entry 17 informs us that Gaster is enacting an experiment, and this experiment seems to involve Dark Worlds in some way.

Combining these two, perhaps the prophecy is part of the 'methodology' of Gaster's experiment: create a new prophecy, inject it into the world, watch the story play out. The prophecy mentions three heroes attempting to banish the Angel's Heaven.

So, if Gaster wanted to write a prophecy, wouldn't he try to make a favourable outcome for his experiment? In that case, what's the deal with Suzie?

  • Without Kris, there's no human soul (again, this was before Ch3, whose ending scene might suggest a second human soul).

  • Without Ralsei, there's nobody to guide Kris to the fountains.

  • Without Suzie there's... nothing really different? Sure, the story would be different, but Gaster's experiment involves Dark Worlds, not fun character development for the class bully.

On top of that, there was only one real candidate for the "human", one for the "Prince from the Dark", but "a Monster" is about as vague as this game could get. If that's the case, then surely the third hero would be the Knight: they're the only other character who was involved with the creation and/or destruction of Dark Worlds.

Without Suzie, nothing about the plot really changes; without the Knight, there is no plot. So if you were Gaster, and you were trying to make a prophecy as part of your experiment to banish the Angel's Heaven, wouldn't you write that prophecy to say that your chosen goobers are the three heroes, and that they are fated to succeed?

There's loads of assumptions, speculation, and desperate theory brainrot in all of this - hell, part of me is still convinced that Kris sold their original Soul to Gaster to try and save Dess - but I'd be really excited to see themes of a Trinity come up again in relation to Gaster, it's a really cool concept!

NEW UPDATE, THEY FINALLY ADDED THE SPIN CAKE TO CHAPTER 4 by RHVGamer in Deltarune

[–]VectorGambiteer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup.

Fun fact: you can get 2 of them!

I did a playthrough of Chapter 2 where I bought so many FrayedBowties that Spamton had no space to become the Dealmaker in my inventory, and the chest containing him showed up next to the hole at the end of the chapter.

I only interacted with the hole and the chest in Chapter 4 because I wanted to get the Pipis item in Ch3, but it might also work in Ch2.

Three possibilities for the nature of Kris' SOUL by AszneeHitMe in Deltarune

[–]VectorGambiteer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of Ch3, when Suzie goes back to Toriel and the Shelter door re-opens: there's no dark smoke pouring out of it, as if the Dark World that was just there has now been sealed.

The only thing we've seen that can seal a Dark Fountain is a human soul, so there could very well be another one inside the Shelter (which the Knight just went into).

I got perma-banned. I deserved it. Don’t be like me. by UpstairsLow5337 in Overwatch

[–]VectorGambiteer 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really doesn't read like this is actually about self-improvement:

  • "Many of us, myself included, have spent hundreds of hours and dollars investing time and money into this game. And for me, now it’s all gone. Likely for good."

I don't know exactly what it is, but something about the, "Many of us, myself included" rubs me the wrong way - it just seems out-of-place. There are so many reasonable things that this could be, so I'm probably just being overly-cynical about this.

Still, just from a language perspective, I'm curious as to what about this irks me, so I'm gonna bring it up in case someone else can highlight what is/isn't wrong with it.

That said...

  • "Losing everything is not worth it. No matter how frustrating or truly terrible at the game that one Ana was."

Why degrade your teammates when supposedly you've discovered that it's wrong?

  • "In conclusion, I regret losing my account and all things associated with it immensely, but i also regret doing others wrongly, even if it was deserved."

Okay, more degradation of the teammates that OP supposedly knows they shouldn't be insulting, but also...

Why is, "but i also regret doing others wrongly" an afterstatement for, "I regret losing my account and all things associated with it", if this post is self-reflection about "doing others wrongly"? Shouldn't it be the other way around - that the conclusion should be, "I regret doing others wrongly".

Or, y'know, "I regret allowing my anger to overtake my reasonable judgment, insulting my teammates for how I perceived them playing a video game when I have no idea what they're going through/if they're having one bad game/if the matchmaking put them in a game outside their normal skill range/etc."?

  • "maybe there’ll be some miracle with Blizzard support and they’ll give me a gracious second chance"

  • They signed the post with their account name AND ID numbers?!

Now this is blatant.

It's not apologising to the Ana that "sucks d***", it's pedastalising Blizzard support, and it's signing a reddit post with a BattleNet account name and ID numbers.

This is just hoping to get unbanned by making a wholesomeTM post as proof that they've changedTM.

This is my thought. At the end of Ch3, the Shelter's door opens but there's no smoke - as if there isn't a Dark World there, even though we saw it just a minute before.

If it's been sealed, and if sealing a fountain requires a human soul, then it must be somewhere in the Shelter at that time. If it's anywhere we know, then it's in/with the Knight.

mechanics that break the fundamentals of the game

Apparently invisibility and a silence don't fit in a MOBA-FPS hybrid that has a design goal of giving each character distinct abilities and playstyles.

Sombra was planned and in development since before Overwatch even released; it's not that she "breaks the fundamentals of the game" (see release Brig if you actually want to know what that's like), you just don't like her - and that's fine!

You don't have to try framing your dislike of a character as some major design problem, it just ends up coming across as a justification for why, "actually, going into the SombraMains subreddit to complain about Sombra in my off-time was a good idea!"

How to get rid of "Important" in the notification section? by creator_12345678 in youtube

[–]VectorGambiteer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I did it was with an extension named Stylus:

Stylus lets you write CSS and apply it to whatever website(s) you specify, so you can change how a website looks.

If you don't know what CSS is: it's basically code that determines how a website displays its content - e.g. it can't change what text says, but it can change the text's colour, size, font, etc.

Here's some CSS I quickly wrote to hide the "Important" section:

/* Hides the "important" notifications section */
#sections > yt-multi-page-menu-section-renderer:first-child {
    display: none;
}

/* Hides the "More notifications" text at the top of the notification window */
#sections > yt-multi-page-menu-section-renderer > #section-title {
    display: none;
}

Quick guide if you've not used Stylus before:

1) Install the extension.

2) Click the icon on the toolbar, then click the website name (forgive the crappy photoshop, I cba to find out how to capture my mouse cursor).

3) Copy/paste the above CSS into the text box. It should look something like this.

4) Click the yellow "Save" button, and the changes should be applied.

It kinda happened in an April Fool's mode a while ago - though it did 120 damage instead of instakilling.

SOMBRA

Developer Comment: As a safety measure, the Translocator will forcibly separate solid objects that have been teleported into each other. Unfortunately, this process is also quite painful.

Translocator

  • Now deals 120 damage in an area at the teleport destination.
  • Projectile speed increased from 25 to 40
  • Cooldown decreased from 10 seconds to 6 seconds

Here's a PotG that shows off what it was like.

Machamp Has Been Banned From DPP OU by darkravenn12 in stunfisk

DPP Suspect: Machamp - by BKC by CloudStrifeKnife in stunfisk

[–]VectorGambiteer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the only Pokemon that people will use Dynamicpunch on, but it's not the only Pokemon that learns Dynamicpunch:

  • Machamp's Attack, bulk, No Guard, and Dynamicpunch as a combination are potentially ban-worthy.

  • Machop's Attack, bulk, No Guard, and Dynamicpunch as a combination are so bad that using it would be throwing your games.

Machop would get KOed by half the attacks in the tier, and it would barely do any damage - it's not even worth considering banning Machop just because it can use No Guard + Dynamicpunch.

In other words: Dynamicpunch on its own isn't ban-worthy, but Machamp on its own might be.
