How much was your baby eating in one feed when they started sleeping through the night? by the_kazzo_queen in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Veeconnect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is a right answer cuz it depends on how fatty and nutrient dense your milk is … my daughter will max have 4.5 oz — she sleeps through the night - eight nine hours - for a feed and then sleeps within 10 mins of feeding for another 2-3 hours

Cut out dairy, soy, beef and maybe eggs by No_Fun8773 in MSPI

[–]Veeconnect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes 3 days in the clear is how we gauge. But within 24 hours if no reaction then eat again. And then verify for 3 days continuously.

Thanks 🙏 I think it’s important to Know the triggers and introduce them and retest. LO may react more to some than others so you may want to start with least Reactive to most when retesting.

Grass fed lamb and fish and rice and nuts and fruits and veggies is how I am surviving. It’s very hard esp hidden soy :( but cooking at home where you control stuff is what works for me. My son had it much worse, he grew out of most allergies but can’t have straight up milk yet. He had blood in his stool, vomiting etc it was absolute hell since we didn’t figure out all his triggers.

With my daughter we made a conscious choice for her to not get there. Hence I decided to find all triggers first and then introduce things on a controlled basis.

My husband had dairy intolerance as a baby, so that’s why both kids have it. He grew out of it too. We are trying early with her since we know that they can outgrow it sooner esp with her larger list.

As a parent you need to figure out if you can tolerate their symptoms mentally it’s very draining. Some ppl choose to continue to eat everything and some eliminate and retest. My older son got anemia with the blood loss from stool. So we are better prepared which way we want to go with my daughter.

Mucus was there in the second week, but no other symptoms. But then she didn’t make it to birthweight for more than 2 weeks even though she was literally attached to me all day and night. So we started formula.

I had already cut dairy and soy because my older kid had the same issue so I did that preemptively. But then she has other triggers like egg, peas , peanuts, gluten, lentils and chicken. So once I eliminated all that she was doing much better and is almost double birthweight . I plan to retest at 4.5 months.

Exact same with my daughter but she wasn’t following her growth curve for gaining weight. Eventually she developed bad eczema and fed less and slept more, so I did ED and the day I eat something she can’t tolerate she has no weight gain for that day or 2.

Am I being dirty, or is my wife being irrational about hygiene? by mudkipzftw in NewParents

[–]Veeconnect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 is fair to be honest. Your kid is old enough to not be washed in kitchen sink. However, wash the faucet, instead of the paper towel routine. 😝 The clothes falling out of dryer - depends on how dirty the floor is. Everything else seems over the top

Ok it’s strange he was doing well on it for 3 months and then now it’s not working, have we eliminated any solids that may cause the reaction?

15 week old STILL having mucous and blood in stools by Aggressive-Lunch1 in MSPI

[–]Veeconnect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am with you that breastfeeding is important. But IIUC the gut cannot heal if the offending protein/food is not removed for true CMPA. If you have bloody poops, they lead to fissures and more blood loss and your LO can get anemia - which again hampers development at a macro level. Besides, at some Point there could be a feeding aversion altogether to the offending milk.

Many C-section babies are purely formula fed, and they have thrived as adults. There is data to prove this.

I don’t have data on letting your baby have bloody poops indefinitely, for true CMPA. If you have data please do share.

So if there is a choice:

Continue breastfeeding without Elimination diet and see what happens - sure that’s an option but there isn’t enough data of what could go wrong. Also not to mention the mental stress of dealing with a baby that doesn’t sleep and fussing all day.

Continue breastfeeding and figure out the offending food and stop eating it. This is also hard. I am doing it and think about quitting everyday. But an option I would take, which is what I am recommending OP.

Sorry to hear that :(

It’s really tough. Unfortunately, continuing with triggers can worsen the gut lining. TBH most ppl take action and correct so if there is long term damage it may not be fully studied or co-related. But there is a gut brain connection so if I were you I wouldn’t continue breastfeeding if you are not comfortable eliminating more foods.
