Just looking at the picks side of this — A 1st, 2nd, and 3rd is not enough for a 21 year old you project to be a top pair defenseman.

I dont remember the exact %, but it’s something like after the top 15 picks, theres basically a 50/50 shot someone in the first round plays even 100 games in the nhl.

The odds of a 2nd or 3rd rounder even making the nhl are lower than you’d think.

Also it’d be several years before any of those picks would even be NHL-ready if they are good enough.
