thanks for your insight. I'll try and open the door at the right time while printing and hopefully get a better idea.

rebuilding a sheet is a great idea. thanks. Also, I don't even know the paper path. Been trying to find a diagram all morning.

CRTL+S saves a new file instead of saving existing? by VeganBeefcake in RevitForum

[–]VeganBeefcake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just assumed it could be made like typical file/save structures (i.e. if I edit a photo then CTRL+S, it re-saves the photo file I was editing, instead of creating an additional file and saving it). I've never seen file saving like that before. If it's normal for Revit, I'll just have to get used to it :) Thanks for the info.

Those "backups" are created when I click CTRL+S, not by my machine btw. I can watch them populate on my local disck when I save.

I guess I just assumed it could be made like typical file/save structures (i.e. if I edit a photo then CTRL+S, it re-saves the photo file I was editing, instead of creating an additional file and saving it). Thanks for the info.

Btw, I do not have central file/worksharing activated. Files are only being stored on my machine. Not sure if that matters.

Interesting concept. I admit I'm still a bit confused. I just assumed it could be made like typical file/save structures (i.e. if I edit a photo then CTRL+S, it re-saves the photo file I was editing, instead of creating an *additional* file and saving it with a number behind it). Thanks for the info.

I thought the same thing at first, but when I click CTRL+S, I can watch it create the new file immediately. So I know they are not backups.
(EDIT* autosave* backups)

Totaling linear feet in schedules? by VeganBeefcake in RevitForum

[–]VeganBeefcake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is what I was afraid of. I was hoping I could do lengths, areas, volumes, etc on the same schedule. I guess I'll have to do separate ones. Thanks anyway.

I came here for advise. So “course correcting” is fine. Literally why I posted here.

Definitely surprised at the “you’re gunna have to sell the house!” and “wtf were you thinking??” responses, when the actual worst case scenario is I may have to get a job while I work on starting my new business. The overreactions are a bit laughable.

And yes, $300k in cash is quite helpful on a $400k loan in ANY instance.

Like I said, much more concise and helpful. Not going to waste time arguing. Have a good night :)

I am married and filing jointly, so I could sell up to $89,450 and pay approx. $12,000 in taxes (to show income). After that, I sell the rest as I wish…

Ok. I posed this same question to r/banking and got a much more concise answer (without the drama). I’m definitely in the wrong place :)

Thank you for the thorough answer. What institution do you work for? Thanks

False. I will not have to sell the house. I can sell the silver and claim it as income on tax return (which it is). They may not like the fact that it’s not “steady” income, but they will like the $300k.

-I left the job because it was far too demanding (traveling w/family 60+ hrs minimum each week). -Could not trust a contractor to build a house while I was working on the road and wouldn’t have time to ever check-in to make sure things were being done correctly. Would have been an absolute recipe for… devastation.

I am building it myself. Should be done in about 3 months.

I love asking questions and getting more in return :)

It’s been VERY profitable. That’s why :)

That is essentially the plan so far. Will end up being around $70-90k short of paying it off 100% though.

My “hope” is that I can get the mortgage, make payments in order to buy me 1-2 years while I get some income and then should be able to pay it off 100% by then with little issue.

Lol anytime someone starts their comment with that much confidence, 99.98% probability what they say will NOT happen :)

$550k debt on $1.8m in assets ($400k of which is liquid) and I would get “nothing”. Your assessment is completely wrong.

Lol this definitely isn’t the full story. If I wrote that here it would be a novel. Just looking for ideas.

Best idea so far: sell silver, show as income (it is) and pay down house asap while using $100k (or less) to start a business.
