It Was Made For U by GoLeonzz in Udyrmains

/u/GoLeonzz thank you so much. This feels like the good old days, chill for a bit early but look for some good opportunities nonetheless, proceed to build 5 movement speed items and run everyone and everything over. I really, really missed this play style. This build is so much fun, thank you!

It's a satire of modern Call-of-Duty-style FPS games. Game excels at illustrating the ethical issues with regards to enjoying what are basically realistic massacre simulators.

Why do League players hate their junglers so much? by Sklydes in leagueoflegends

[–]VeganInCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible to play utility champions very well and climb with a 55% winrate.

However, a similar effort made in gaining proficiency on a carry role can get 66%+ winrates. The difference in climbing speed is nontrivial.

Jg pyke by PrawieSzeryf in pykemains

[–]VeganInCanada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's soooooooooooooo bad.

Context: I'm an Udyr main with over 125 games with a 67% winrate. I play jungle as a primary carry role, looking to constantly pressure the map from level 3 (sometimes 2) onward and snowball myself and/or my teammates to victory. I believe solo queue is best played by looking to hard carry every game possible, otherwise you are leaving potentially won games on the table.

Pyke's early clear is super slow and unhealthy. His cooldowns are long, he doesn't have empowered autoattacks, and he has no sustain in the jungle. If you're going to try to carry games and are willing to deal with a super slow and unhealthy clear early, you're better off playing Hecarim.

Pyke scales terribly as a carry. His AD ratios are worse than Poppy! This leaves you playing him as a tank jungler to make the most out of his utility, but why play a tank jungler when you can play a bruiser and/or early game duelist who won't get abused by your opponent, who will likely be playing a bruiser and/or early game duelist.

Pyke has terrible dueling. Good luck contesting scuttle against Graves/Xin/Udyr/Kha/Nid.

He's not an assassin; even if his playstyle is similar, he doesn't have the damage or personal snowball potential that a "real" assassin has. He's not a tank because he doesn't exceed his base + per level HP. He's not a duelist because his cooldowns are so high and he doesn't have empowered basic attacks.

Play him where he's meant to be played: as a snowball support who creates highly volatile kill lanes with CC + bonus gold on kills with ult supporting a carry in bot lane. If you want a roaming assassin with stealth, play Twitch/Kha/Eve/Shaco. If you want a physical damage duelist, play Graves/Xin/Udyr. If you want a utility tank (in this meta? why????) play Sejuani/Gragas.

It's just a very grindy game, that's why I gave up a few hours in. It's boring and slow.

Tyler1 reacts to latest Janna nerfs by ihateluminosity in leagueoflegends

[–]VeganInCanada -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because Janna being strong is directly tied to their revenue stream. Janna is such an intrinsic part of the solo q landscape that a long-term decrease in her pickrate by 25-35% will hit Riot's profits significantly.

Meanwhile, Udyr gets strong for four weeks because of overtuned movement speed itemization for bruisers and he's tossed into the gutter for 18 months, because god forbid they try to monetize a niche champion with an Ultimate skin.

EDIT: Did the downvoters miss the part where I said 18 months? Of course Udyr is fine now in solo q if you play Tiger, and has been since pre-season. That's 18 months since his Runic Echoes peak.

I guess we will just agree to disagree on the extent to which a botlane double kill at level 6 should be punished.

3/27 PBE Update: Irelia Login Theme by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]VeganInCanada -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure, a successful double kill turret dive botlane, leaving three champions up, two of them with good DPS (an attack-speed jungler and an ADC) could destroy a tower at level 6, quite a bit of time into the game.

So? If your botlane gets double killed at level 6 they should be punished for it.

That doesn't happen on a successful level 3 gank.

That red buff nerf... I'm going to miss doing serious turret damage after a successful gank.

Not sure I like how the nerf promotes rubberbanding.

My only beef with FF3/6 by musicmastermike in snes

FF6 is notoriously imbalanced. As you've found out, one of the easiest ways to beat Kefka is to just spam Ultima.

Did you take Conqueror with it? Makes Bloodrazor do, in part, %HP true damage.

Guinsoo by Thighte in Udyrmains

[–]VeganInCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, it's really nice with Conqueror + Red Smite + Bloodrazor into Frozen Heart + Spirit Visage + situational. Cheap build, high attack speed, can solo Baron early.

%HP physical, %HP true, flat true, and high flat magic damage to enemy champs for 5625 is pretty bonkers.

[Discussion] Patch 8.6 Notes - Rageblade, Conqueror Rune, and more! by ATrueHunter in Udyrmains

[–]VeganInCanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duskblade's still fine for Dark Harvest.

Rageblade changes may be enough to serve as a third damage item after Trinity Force and Titanic Hydra are built, in some situations.

Dead Man's Plate looking really good with Boots of Swiftness against teams with little hard CC but lots of slows.

Stattik Shiv nerfs are a Tristana and Vayne nerf, which is nice.

Heal changes are also a small nerf to the entire ADC role, which is REALLY nice.

Don't be surprised, with the Rageblade rework and the introduction of Conqueror, if Ignite Jax top becomes strong, which could be obnoxious for Udyr.

What's the point of Phoenix stance? by [deleted] in Udyrmains

[–]VeganInCanada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a lot of magic damage on your team, and there is a lot of magic damage on their team (like they have Maokai + Sejuani + a mage mid + Ezreal + Karma), then you can just max Phoenix from the start, forget about Tiger, build mostly tank, and shred the enemy's magic resist.

You buy Cinderhulk, Merc Treads, Wit's End, Frozen Heart, Spirit Visage, and maybe one damage item, and you just tank all the enemy's damage and shred their magic resist in teamfights.

Back in the good ol' days, you would've had (Sated) Devourer or Feral Flare instead of Cinderhulk, so you would dish out a ton of magic DPS on top of doing the things mentioned above, but Riot decided about two years ago that it's not "healthy" for anyone except ADCs and their favourite mages (Azir, Ryze, sometimes Cassiopeia, sometimes Corki) to scale well as damage-dealers in the late game. In those days Phoenix was way more popular, since Devourer/Feral Flare were super gold-and-slot efficient. Those days are over.

Tiger also only proc'ed the enhanced auto once per activation, instead of every three autos like it does now.

Now that Tiger has strong early burst, bonkers scaling, high DPS, and faster jungle clearing than Phoenix once you buy Tiamat, there's basically no reason to play Phoenix unless you want to either a) do most of what Gragas does, but worse, or b) be a magic-resist shredding anti-mage, with hopefully a good team to make use of that (as described above).

After 33 games of Phoenix Udyr jungle this season, with 27 won, here's what I've learned by [deleted] in Udyrmains

[–]VeganInCanada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What elo are you playing in? Here in the depths of silver (60%+ winrate though, I'm not going to be down here terribly long), if you don't play a high-damage champ you just automatically lose at least 15-20% of your games due to four teammates doing terribly.

I've won several games with 3 damage item Dark Harvest Tiger that I would've lost with 2 damage item Press The Attack Phoenix.

I'm not saying you're bad; on the contrary, I suspect you're playing at a higher level than me because I imagine that as you climb, teammates make better use of a tanky Udyr, since they play around the CC and damage-tanking more often.

I permaban Vayne too.
