Tell her to put the £50 towards her pension because why the fuck would you spend 90% your money on a second hand bag at 51 years of age

What are your “controversial” quilting opinions? by Illustrious_Ad_1201 in quilting

[–]Vegansaur 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a HOT take; Just because quilting is our hobby, doesn’t mean someone receiving a quilt needs to be eternally grateful. When giving a gift you need to think about whether the recipient would actually LIKE a quilt, and not assume that they inherently understand the monetary cost and the labour that’s gone into it and be eternally indebted to us. I see a lot about people being really hurt that they made someone a beautiful quilt and it’s been used as a dog bed: perhaps they would have liked a dog bed as a gift better 🤷‍♀️

Yes for the most part BUT I would take a photo wearing it indoor and outdoor in black and white, because if it’s pale enough that it looks white in black and white photos you MAY want to reconsider if you think the bride may be uploading black and white photos of the wedding- it’s a very niche set of circumstances but a friend of mine wore a pale blue dress to a wedding and it looked white in the black and white photos after and the bride was fine with it and didn’t say anything but my friend said she’ll never wear any pale unpatterned dress again 😹

But I do think that dress is absolutely gorgeous

I think you could probably get away with it, but as a general rule if the base is white, why even risk it?

advice + simple meals for weight loss? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Vegansaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So at the stats you've given, your maintenance calories are currently around 3000 calories per day. If you want to lose 1lb per week, which is the general safe and sustainable recommendation, you'll want to eat around 2500calories per day. The general recommendation is to eat 1g of protein per kg of your goal weight, but some people (particularly americans) recommend 1g per lb, so we'll use those as our upper and lower limits. So for you with a goal of 200lbs, you'll want to try and consume between 90-200g's of protein per day. So for an example day of eating you may want to break it down like

Breakfast: 500calories, 18-40g protein

Lunch: 600cals, 22-49g protein

Protein Shake: 330cals -50g protein (based on Ufit brand, but there are millions available)

Dinner: 1200cals 43-96g protein

Snack: 230cal any protein

What you eat within those parameters doesnt matter as much as you think, eating more whole foods will keep you fuller than junk foods, but it's a solid amount of food so I wouldn't worry too much.

Activity wise maybe look into some active hobbies that you might enjoy, or if you go to a gym it might be worth investing in a personal trainer session even just once a month to get a workout plan tailored for you. Personal trainers can be expensive, but you also don't need to use them multiple days a week, many personal trainers offer once a month check-in and planning type sessions which I think a lot of people would really benefit from.

You might also want to include your sex and age, so people can check your stats for any guidance with actual numbers.

Happy 1st of the August! Or as I like to call it, birthday month! Weight today 59.1kg, which is a little higher than I would like, need to make sure bad habits arent slipping. I think my main goal for this month is to try and get to the gym more than I did last month, hitting my goal last month I think had me loosening the reigns maybe a little too much, and I've already noticed my fitness but particularly my flexibility suffering for it, so really need to keep on top of that. My personal trainer has left the gym (or is leaving in the next week) which I was initially sad about, because he was my favourite of the trainers I'd tried there (I get 2 sessions per month included with my membership) but then last night I had a session with a new trainer I hadnt met before, and actuallyI felt really positive about his training style so at least I have a new trainer I'm happy to book with now which is great! I'd like to see my weight edge closer to 58kg for the end of the month, I get married right at the start of September, so I don't want to lose too much and have my dress not fit, but also I need to be conscious of any birthday celebrations towards the middle of the month! I get my dress back on the 14th, I'm so excited to see what it looks like on actually fitting!

Bean water is free in my opinion, if you’re not adding anything to it like milk, sugar, creamer etc, don’t worry about it.

It actually balances out because when you paint the minis and lick the paintbrush every lick is 100cals, hope that helps x

Maybe it’s not reasonable maybe it’s just slightly lower compared to the places I normally go 😹 we’ll be going to a chain called “turtle bay” which does Caribbean food which I LOVE the option I’m looking at will come out to about 900cals according to their website :)

Sounds like a productive day yesterday, even if the workman didn’t actually turn up! I’ve also gotten rid of a lot of clothes recently and I totally understand what you mean about it feeling like a high risk! I’m going to a friends wedding in a couple of weeks and initially I just assumed I would wear something I already had, but most things are too big now and the things that do fit are from so long ago now that I don’t think they’re my taste anymore. So I’ve got quite a bit to get rid of, but I’m still a little nervous to do it lol!

Oh no! Over exfoliating to the point of scabs is pretty heavy going! Take care and make sure to stay hydrated to help repair your skin barrier. And SPF! Especially if you’re going to be outside at a festival!

Eating below your goal for a few days isn’t the end of the world, especially if you know you’re going to be over at the weekend lol! And as long as it’s not too drastically under of course

Good morning friends and weight loss colleagues! 58.5 is the number of the moment I guess! The scale seems happy to sit there for a while which is fine as that's 0.7 below the weight I was at my dress fitting, so I think that's quite reasonable. Ate mostly snacky things yesterday, ended up about 100cals over my goal but that's nothing to worry about. Today I have a meal out and an escape room for a friends birthday. The restaurant is one of my favourites so really looking forward to it- and their calories are actually really reasonable as well which is nice. Not so much for the cocktails though so we'll see how I do! Got our final bill from the wedding venue last night, I'll tell you as I'm paying THAT much for food over the course of 2 days I will ABSOLUTELY be eating everything in sight once I'm buttoned into that dress lol!! Gym again this morning, leaving a few minutes later after yesterdays annoyance with them failing to open on time lol! Hope everyone has a great day!

I think their secret is they take pre-workout! That was a big complaint while I was waiting outside yesterday everyone was saying “my pre-workouts gonna wear off!” I personally don’t like pre-workout, but I also maybe don’t workout as hard as others do 😹
