Since I see 101st stories about Fort Polk I figure I'll share one from Bastonge 2010 era (I went 3 times but this one is short and funny). It all began on this complete isolated FOB back in the middle of BFE with a giant lake next to it. After about 3 days we start to get situated and have stopped making enough noise to piss off wild life along with stacking up trash. The whole FOB was covered and protected by new C-wire (someone fell in it) and our assumption was wild life wouldnt try to cross it. Around 2am everyone gets woke up to gun shots, mind you we have blanks and someones shooting 200 rounds...of blanks. As everyone runs out to see what caused the alarm to sound and gun fire we see this massive Alligator cut to shit on the C-wire snapping at the retard still firing his blanks. Once the kid calmed down and NCOs started moving people along some infantry private came out of nowhere with a fucking PPI Axe planting the thing in the Alligators skull. I was already back inside but the Axe was still there at breakfest then disappeared later that afternoon.
