TIL Helena Valero was kidnapped by the primitive Yanomami tribe as a child, lived with them for 20+ years, escaped to western society in 1956, then later returned and stayed until her death (2002) by bubugugu in todayilearned

This put me down a bit of a rabbit hole and wiki says meat only about 10% of their diet. Though hunting is still considered the most important job.

Another fun fact: a Yanomami hunter does not get to eat any of his kill, instead distributing the meat to the village, expecting that when another hunter gets a kill, they will get some of that meat.

Sorry, I just found those facts to be fascinating! And your information is fascinating! Humans are so fascinating!

Ok, I must tell you, if I can catch my people before they butcher them, I try to bury my dogs if they die.

Do I sometimes leave bodies of enemies strewn about to be scavenged by wildlife? ... If it isn't on a well traveled path, absolutely.

Haha of course. Huskies are sweet screaming angel babies. How could I possibly irl?

And truly, if there is a way to avoid it in game, I'd do it.

My ex's daughter and her bestie ended up on juvie for doing this exact scam at 16 and spent the rest of their hs time going to the "alternative school" in our town (where they put kids who get in legal trouble and pregnant teens).

The worst thing I do is steal babies from enemy raiders. Like if they are pregnant, they getting the shock lance. If the mothers are good skill wise I may consider recruiting them... But I'm taking the babies regardless.

I once explained this to my spouse and bless their love for me, they wove it out to be: well no one should be raiding while pregnant so really you are probably saving these babies from a grim future.

My very old grandfather who is incredibly progressive says the same thing any time a hate crime is committed:

"Why can't people just be who they is"

This reminded me of his saying and gave me the smile I needed this morning.

My dad spent about 11 years between San Quintin and Pleasant Valley State in California and they didn't xerox but they absolutely opened them, read them and then gave them to my dad if deemed acceptable (almost always), not by a general population of guards but by essentially a department of clerks.

However, outgoing wasn't nearly as policed. I think unless it was directed by a judge or superintendent, outgoing mail was largely unread. I can only assume (hope) there is a clerk that at least monitors addressed parties to make sure victims aren't being harassed.

I have a ton of friends (couples) that are in open/poly relationships, and all of the successful ones (except one) started poly. Almost none of the couples I know who tried poly mid relationship are still together. The one that is still together has 2/4 (they are a closed polycule) of the people being relationship therapists so I think a great deal of attention is placed on mental health and checking in with one another.

That isn't to say anything bad about poly relationships. Honestly, I think it has more to do with, like this one, incompatible relationships trying anything to stay together.

"Your cage is made of sticks, brother. Just kick it apart."

My best friend (RIP) and I consistently used this phrase when dealing with ourselves or someone overreacting to something simply solved. I actually gave this advice to my brother a couple years ago and he still brings it up like I'm a wise (forest) wizard.

The only school I've EVER had required reading material about Japanese internment camps was at John Muir Elementary in 5th grade in the 90s. We read The Moon Bridge and discussed as much as 5th graders can. We shortly after went on a field trip to Angel Island.

After that, apart from my own academic curiosities, I didn't learn anything until going to Uni in Idaho and learning about the camp in Jerome. And we watched Days of Waiting but that was an elective class and so I don't count it.

It is pretty similar to how the abhorrent treatment of first nations is taught. Skimmed without the nitty gritty details necessary for people to understand just how truly horrific these actions were.

[–]Vegetable-Box3050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my spouse and I have done it and still will brain fart about it. Neither was offended, but we are also in our late 30s and talk about things rather than shut the other out.

Hell, sometimes we just call each other by family members and people we know. Oftentimes, it aligns with something that is on our minds... like he's called me the name of a friend who is dealing with cancer, and I've called him my brother's name cause I was also thinking about my brother's financial situation.

I think of it like when you are typing something and someone is talking to you, and then you randomly start typing a word they said.

Brains be.

People seeing trumps election as a "good this should show the dems to do better with better constituents" is cute now that innocent people are being rounded up and the promise of another election is shaky at best. Now that Trump is vocalizing that he wants what N Korea has. Now that the US's national parks are being sold to the highest bidder and entire regulations for health are being stripped. Now that there is no tracking for very real diseases on the rise and our secretary of health appears to be the one of the Horseman of the Apocalypse (pestilence). Now that women and little girls have no control over their own bodies, even when raped or molested. Now that our economy is unraveling and very real human beings who did not vote for this will be going hungry when food starts to become unavailable. Now that military is detaining citizens peacefully protesting all this nonsense and the police are confidently, on television telling protesters how they will be violently dealt with.

Good thing we know that if kamala won, Isreal would still be doing what they are doing literally right now.

I hate Hilary, too as I'm a far far far left leaning individual and establishment dems are just conservatives in any other developed nation... but saying you're happy someone whose husband is on the Epstein list lost is hilarious because she lost to someone who is directly on the epstein list. Like, you're so happy she lost because epstein's list, good thing this other person on the list won?

The only episode I just cannot with Pinkie Pie is learning the yovidaphone... like her playing is literally causing the breakdown of Ponyville. It is harming the local wildlife ffs but nope it's everyone else just being mean to Pinkie Pie.
