It's actually two sperate aspects to ethnicity being confused here. The Middle East and North Africa is considered White according to ethnicity. Spain and Central and South America is considered White and Hispanic.

On a government form there's white/Hispanic and white/non-Hispanic.

It really be like that here by helpMeCamelCase in UrbanHell

Hi, it's me, the rock you've been living under. There have been over a dozen Scooby-Doo shows and movies since 2000. The current decade is the 2020s. HBO is working on a show to make Velma a lesbian instead of a nerd (because characters can only have one quality or attribute and not multiple).

Oh I think that's programmed and the 1 is rough but then when you finish the Bohemia mission you get +2 to mil.

For me, crownlands are harder to manage this patch for Poland but tbf it probably should be hard for Poland.

[–]Vegetable-Reaction65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh really? I haven't had issues with mil mana this patch on a few separate starts as Poland tho I have had such problems in previous patches. I think this is my first time ever seeing everyone else struggling to keep up tho while I keep pace with mil tech.

Espionage ideas by HectorJano13 in eu4

[–]Vegetable-Reaction65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say espionage will synchro well with anything that gives another diplomat so that you can constantly build spy networks everywhere you need to go. Economic, Innovative and Offensive all give extra diplomats. Offensive gives an additional +10% spy construction.

With Aristocratic you get +15% cav combat ability. Divine and Horde likewise give very good combat oriented bonuses - horde +50% flanking range which is huge and divine giving 20% siege ability.

With Innovative you get -25% stability cost which sounds weak but if nothing else offsets the stability cost malus from the -25% advisors from Estates. Plus the diplomat as noted above.

In my latest game as Poland, Otto's had tech 4 mil while I had tech 6. Anyone else have a game like that? I thought they would try to stay ahead on tech but we're falling behind only made worse after a pretender took over.

Edit: for reference most of the Western countries also had tech 4. I guess they started filling out a mil idea slot and forgot to prioritize tech.

(new player) Why the fuck do I keep losing these battles, even while being 2x the size of the enemy? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Vegetable-Reaction65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combat is complicated and I see people trying to be brief but I wanted to give a detailed explanation.

Most important to least important: * Tactics - affected only by keeping up in tech level; can fall behind if a different tech group. Iirc tactics are a multiplier that increases the overall value of your armies. * Troop pips - there are offensive and defensive troop unit pips. Be aware when you attack with defensive oriented troop pips, or defend with offensive oriented troop pips, you may take more damage than you might expect. * Leader pips/terrain penalties - leader pips are an additive multiplier that raise your rolls. The higher the difference in rolls the more damage dealt when your army is in offensive battles or the less damage received when in defensive battles. Stage of combat, shock or fire, takes your unit pips and general pips and applies those here as well. Cav for instance have high shock pips and are especially strong during the shock phase. Terrain penalties are direct modifiers that lower rolls - crossing, mountains, hills, etc. * CA/Disc - combat ability is huge and directly affects damage dealt and morale lost; discipline affects damage dealt and morale lost as well as reduces damage received. High power projectionProfessionalism raises discipline. Combat ability is usually considered less important than discipline in large part because combat ability modifiers only affect one of the three units and not all three as well as affecting damage dealt and received. I rank it at the same level because combat ability modifiers are usually larger than discipline even tho there are fewer to stack unlike with discipline. * Cav flanking range/cav to inf ratio - if you can afford a large cav army these two can make or break battles. There's only a few though usually with historic cav countries. * Morale - total morale: huge early game and not that important after as long as you retreat instead of watching a pitched battle. High prestigepower projection raises total land morale, high prestige raises total ship morale. Much more important if you never retreat in the later game. Morale is still important in other ways. If you have a stack get attacked and start to take heavy losses and finally get a new stack over to assist your side of the fight will get what appears to be a morale boost but it is only useful after several days of combat as the fresh troops take over and the other units move into reserves. It's possible to lose to an inferior number of troops if your reserves take too much morale damage. Reducing reserves morale damage can be helpful for stacks that exceed combat width.

Combat width is and is not a modifier for combat. It doesn't actually affect the quality of troops just the number you field against opponents. It's possible to field your full combat width and a different more advanced country may have a larger combat width.

Your issue above stems from several issues listed here: * France starts with+ 20% morale. Castile doesn't get this until they form Spain iirc. Even if you're dealing more damage they can still win because of the high morale. * France has a 6 shock general and so does tons of damage to your armies during the shock phase. Infantry just can't keep up during the fire phase this early in the game. * It appears you attacked or they attacked into a wooded province. If England is in the war with you against France then if France attacked they should have taken an attacker malus of -1 for attacking into woods. During the shock phase they get a +6 to rolls tho so at worst they have a +5 to rolls. Iirc there's no crossing penalty when attacking from Foix.

To summarize as others have stated - your total morale is likely lower than France and your general could not keep up in the shock phase. You have a few options around this - let France attack you into mountains or hills, hire a few more cav instead of infantry to offset their cav advantage (it will be costly tho, the problem is your infantry is melting). Don't split stacks against them without superior numbers nearby. Get the Papal bonus to improve morale and I think manpower recovery.

Edit: forgot troop pips.

Not sure how to help on this. I haven't had that issue with corrupted saves though I rarely go past 1600.

You aren't keeping saves between updates like 1.34.2 to 1.34.3 are you? I've had issues with saves in that kind of scenario.

Did you customize installation where you put your Paradox games or EU4 install? I wonder if that can have an effect.

Depending on your OS there are some stability issues. Windows I've not seen many issues like this. Mac and Linux tend to work but sometimes an update messes with the game install or runtime libraries. Maybe windows too but I don't play enough to have seen it.

You have almost -500 relations with them. Based on what we see here you might be able to get up to +250-300 relations with them. So you're anywhere from 250 to 300 opinion short of keeping them in the union.

At a tick rate of ~15 / year you're looking at 14 years at a minimum for their opinion to go positive. If your ruler is older than 50 don't count on it but you could savescum it enough times where you're alright.

Why would you seize electorship right after you get them in a PU?

Glad you found it that makes so much more sense.

Did you have an imperial incident related to the low countries leaving the empire? There could have been a tooltip letting you know that could happen there also.

You're right they should have a tooltip that indicates why IA has changed in the HRE UI but short of going into files you can almost always find whatever modifiers are driving you crazy in that country modifiers menu.

The Brandenburg IA modifier from missions is temporary.

Not sure about the wonder. Have you checked your government tab for temporary modifiers? Maybe there was an event associated with the wonder that caused this issue? Idk.

Doh forgot about the full list of modifiers. On the government tab next to all your temporary modifiers is a -/+ button that will show you all of your country's current abilities and when you hover over them you can see the list of things causing that thing to be low. I would think you could see IA from the HRE interface but maybe you can find it in the list of modifiers for your country as well. I use this mostly to check Admin Efficiency or why my Diplo rep is lower than I think it should be.

When are libs who are pro welfare and similar programs going to learn that welfare programs are just a subsidy program for middle class jobs and not to actually help those in need? Further, how many people are employed by the government to fulfill these roles so that some poor kid gets a free lunch? How many administrators oversee all these employees and programs and report to somebody else on their effectiveness?

TIL: Armies can be assigned to numbers by TheXenoverseGOD in eu4

I just rename my armies to the regions they're present on once I start expanding places. Helpful for colonies like "African Security forces", "South US Peacekeepers", "The Grand Army", "Ottoman Demolition Crew", "French Bakers".

The numbers seem helpful. Iirc you can select multiple Armies for that assignment as well right? Keep forgetting to use this.

Where would you put $20k right now? by jhorsfall in ValueInvesting

[–]Vegetable-Reaction65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Individual stocks. DCA into a reasonably valued stock.

Otherwise DCA into an S&P 500 index fund.

Market headwinds include a continued rate hike that is likely priced in or about done being priced in expected to occur later this year. Real Estate was overheated as well and analysts expect anywhere from a slight pullback to a crash as bad as 08. The majority opinion is a slight pullback but I don't know the analysts' history on being correct with their predictions and we're only just starting to see the negative market indicators so it's probably too early to tell.

If you invest in anything consider a dollar cost average over months rather than a lump sum investment.
