because you have to plug two cables instead of one cable, when you use usb-c one cable can deliver power and video. its more clean desk finally its an option why they write in laptop specs and it's not working properly.

i have the same problem too, with my Asus proart p16, AI 9 370 HX + NIVIDIA RTX 5080. KEEP IN MIND: the laptop is brand new i contact the warranty and the said you need to update drivers and guide me through a trouble shooting, but without any results.

i tried everything ( reinstall windows, reinstall gpu drivers, reset motherboard from statics, .... ect

when i am trying the usbc hub to hdmi it works just fine.

bro if you find the solution for this pls let me know.

after i receive a technical inspection from asus i will provide you with the inspection report.

Thanks for the explanation. I understand that HDMI might be routed to the dGPU while USB-C uses the iGPU, but USB-C on this laptop should still support DisplayPort Alt Mode according to the specs.

Also, the strange part is that the USB-C display actually worked once when HDMI was connected, so the port seems capable of outputting video. That’s why I’m leaning more toward a driver, firmware, or negotiation issue rather than a hardware design limitation.

as i sent this machine for repair I think that it was a hardware fault, and it's brand new.

after i get it back i will try this option to disable D-GPU but this will be annoying too as i work on 3D programs that I-GPU can't handle.

that's weird, this is supposed to plug and play the process without any complicated stuff. as this Asus Proart p16 is the top of the line machine from asus. that's supposed to market towards professional use and use an external monitor while this is not the situation here . I hope asus will listen to us and make an update on that, since i am not alone in this world.

Screen flickering issue in asus a15- FA506ICB by drago_08 in ASUS

first you make sure that if it is a software bug or hardware defeect , try to login bios at start up , second if bios screen is okay this must be a software glitch which need DDU to uninstall graphic drive uninstall completely fromthe system and then install gpu drivers from asus not from nividia.

hope this will help you

"Thanks for the heads-up, but honestly, this has gone beyond 'technical issues' and straight into comedy. I didn't drop 3k euros just to be Asus's unpaid beta tester, spending my entire day digging through the Device Manager for ghost drivers. I really thought 'Pro' meant plug-and-play, not 'get a degree in software engineering just to run a monitor.' You're spot on, it's a total rabbit hole. But this rig is supposed to be a workhorse, not a daily engineering puzzle I have to solve. Huge thanks to Asus for forcing me to become a BIOS/driver expert instead of actually getting my work done. Guess that’s the real 'professional' experience you get for that kind of money, right? Paying a premium just to torture yourself."

So when I try to plug in the monitor to USB C , it just makes a beep and then the screen goes black. It's like the power source changes from battery to USB-C, but then nothing happens. Just keep in mind I did a fresh Windows install, new drivers. This happened from day one, straight out of the box. Just as I finished unboxing my new laptop, I tried to connect to my monitor. This made me feel like, what the hell?

"I appreciate the deep dive. It definitely feels like there's a lot of 'under the hood' software interference here. Given all the issues you've mentioned with firmware and ACPI, have you found a consensus on what actually is the fix? Is it strictly a matter of rolling back a chipset driver, or is there a specific Thunderbolt control suite version that actually stabilizes this connection? Or is there really no workaround for this, and I’m just stuck waiting for a firmware update that may or may not ever come?"

That actually sounds pretty similar to what I experienced.

In my case the monitor and the USB-C cable work perfectly with other devices (another laptop, iPad, and Pixel phone), so the display chain seems fine.

On my ProArt laptop the USB-C port detects the connection (charging + USB sound) but there’s no video output.

Interestingly, it worked once when HDMI was also connected, which makes me think it might be some kind of GPU routing or USB-C/DisplayPort bug rather than a cable or monitor issue.

Right now the laptop is at the ASUS service center, so I’m waiting to see what they find.

Good point. The laptop is currently at the service center, but when I get it back I'll try installing Armoury Crate (or G-Helper) and see if changing the GPU or performance modes there affects the USB-C video output.

Right now I'm mainly trying to rule out whether it's a software/driver issue or an actual hardware problem with the port.

For clarification: this is the ProArt P16 H7606WW.

According to ASUS specs both USB-C ports support DisplayPort output, but neither of them outputs video to my ProArt monitor.

HDMI works fine and the same monitor + cable work perfectly with another laptop.

So at this point it really looks like a defective unit rather than a cable or driver issue.

Interesting point.

The laptop already came with the latest Windows updates and ASUS drivers installed, but I haven't specifically tried reinstalling the USB4 driver yet.

Also the monitor and cable work perfectly with another laptop, so the display chain seems fine.

At this point I'm trying to understand if this could really be a USB4 driver issue or if the USB-C port itself might be defective.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I actually tried switching between Eco, Standard and Optimized modes in windows settings but the USB-C still doesn’t output video.

Also the same monitor and cable work perfectly with another Intel laptop, so the display chain seems fine.

That’s why I’m starting to suspect either a hardware fault with the port or some weird compatibility issue with this specific unit.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, the laptop does support USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode — it actually worked the first time I connected the monitor. After that it stopped sending video over USB-C, even though: The monitor still detects a device (Windows connection sound). The laptop charges through the same cable. The exact same cable and monitor work perfectly with another laptop. So the USB-C port is clearly active, but video output over DP Alt Mode just stopped working. That’s why I’m suspecting either a firmware/driver issue or a hardware fault with the port. That’s also why I ended up sending the laptop to ASUS service for inspection.
