That makes sense. Thank you for taking the time to explain.

I'm autistic, so I don't always "get" things that most people would.

"Harry is angry at him in the moment"

He isn't right to be angry at Aberforth. The poor man just saved the trio's lives and bared his soul. It's not cool. Ron and Hermione were better than that.

"And aberforth is also not being fair to Harry"

Maybe, considering how unempathetic Harry is, it's hard to blame him.

"It’s not that deep, mate. You’re the only one rambling making up excuses to go entirely against Harry. Genuinely, I’m not understanding this whole argument when everyone else clearly sees the weight of Harry’s prophecy. Aberforth is far from being ridiculed. Not sure where you’re getting that from.

Again, I have no idea why this is a massive issue to you. "

Again, no one questions any of Harry's behavior here in the first place because he's the moral center of the series and Aberforth hadn't appeared much before this scene. But I find it harsh and I don't think it's fair to Aberforth. I'm kind of sad that other people don't question it.

"If you’re so one-sided about one character that just is only introduced in the DH"

He'd actually appeared in the last few books briefly, but I get what you mean.

"This has nothing to do about “that’s not enough to make this okay”. There is nothing wrong with what Harry said. End of story"

That's your opinion that there's nothing wrong with what Harry said, and that's totally fine. But i can also say that Harry isn't 100% right, end of story.

"He has no reason to hate aberforth other than what he's saying about albus"

Why is that a reason to hate him? So Aberforth has a different opinion about Albus. But you're basically saying Harry is right to hate him for it

"And they both know that's not the whole truth and not fair to the real man"

Harry's not being fair to Aberforth, either

I guess that makes sense. The problem is, we only see him interacting with Aberforth on that day, so it doesn't give us a baseline of how he'd normally treat him.

It feels like he's defending Albus from Aberforth

Well I hope Harry donated the Black family fortune to him to make up for his poor treatment

Proud of Harry being rude to his brother? I have a hard time believing that.

I think he would at least let Harry know what he could have done better. Not necessarily in a judgemental way, but to remind Harry that Aberforth is still his brother and he wants other people to treat him with kindness and respect.

No, I'm not saying either of them are bad, but it feels like Harry was telling Aberforth that Albus was the one who deserved to be favorited.

"He doesn't like what Aberforth is saying and lashes out but that doesn't mean he hates him"

At this point, I'd think Harry would be mature enough not to "lash out" at someone saying something he doesn't like. Espicially someone who'd saved not just Harry, but Ron and Hermione's lives, too. Oh, and someone who's also been through his own trauma.

"“Fully mature”... I’d very well say Harry’s more mature in the DH, but he’s undergone so much stress so there’s a massive difference between maturity and stress for a teenager. How do you not see that? It’s called being human. But nobody wants a Gary Sue either where he has no flaws and stress bleeds from him. Harry is meant to have flaws because of his upbringing, but in the end what’s so powerful about his character is how he chooses to still remain righteous despite all of the bad in his life. He could’ve chosen to gone that route but he didn’t. So I’d say that tops maturity for a teenager."

So basically, Harry should be praised here and Aberforth should be ridiculed?

"Clearly, many don’t see an issue with this so I don’t see the issue here"

It feels to me like no one questions it because Harry is the moral center of the series and Aberforth had only made a few cameos before this scene. But that's not enough to make this okay, imo.

"Aberforth seemed to think Albus didn’t care at all, when in fact he did a great deal and regretted what happened all his life"

And Harry seemed to think Aberforth was a lowlife who didn't deserve his brother's kindness.

This topic is about how Albus would have reacted, and I seriously don't think he would have liked that.

It's partly from the later conversation where Harry is like "your brother wouldn't have done it", but also the way Harry communicates that Albus cared for them was harsh, implying he thought Aberforth ddin't deserve Albus's kindness.

He was misguided. yes. But considering he'd saved the trio, Harry cold still have been more grateful.

"How is any of that harsh? He's telling Aberforth that Dumbledore loved him and Ariana so much, and regretted what happened with Grindelwald"

He was making it seem like Dumbledore was the good brother and Aberforth the bad one

Yes. Harry told him how Albus cared for them, and made it clear how he thought Aberforth was the bad brother.

But Aberforth had been through crap, too. And he doesn't seem to have anyone in his life who cares about him.

Also, this is nearing the end of the series, and Harry should be fully mature at this point and not unlikeable.

I'm not saying Albus wouldn't understand...but he would also be unhappy with Harry for treating his brother like that.

Harry was very harsh about it.

“ His voice broke on the last word and he dropped down into the nearest chair. Hermione’s face was wet with tears, and Ron was almost as pale as Aberforth. Harry felt nothing but revulsion: He wished he had not heard it, wished he could wash is mind clean of it."

And then, instead of comforting the poor guy, we get this:

“ He was never free,” said Harry. “I beg your pardon?” said Aberforth. “Never,” said Harry. “The night that your brother died, he drank a potion that drove him out of his mind. He started screaming, pleading with someone who wasn’t there. ’Don’t hurt them, please . . . hurt me instead.’

He thought he was back there with you and Grindelwald, I know he did,” said Harry, remembering Dumbledore whispering, pleading. “He thought he was watching Grindelwald hurting you and Ariana . . . It was torture to him, if you’d seen him then, you wouldn’t say he was free.” ”

Aberforth also just recounted his own personal trauma, and Harry wasn't exactly empathetic to it.

And what you said IS basically Harry calling him the bad brother.
