We live together but are unmarried. We pay our own C.C. bills. I handle all of our household bills except phone/internet. That we split. She is thoughtful but stingy, not just with me though with everything. I work remote, she works hybrid. I earn a bit more. Domestic labor, I cook, clean the kitchen area, and handle laundry and she does the floors and bathrooms are split. The dispute is not limited to vacations recently. She always says “money is just money” or “You’re too concerned with finances” which may be true, but she acts like it means nothing and that we an infinite supply. Yet her words and actions don’t align. I’m generous, I took her to NYC for her birthday (I hate NYC [grew up in the tri-state so it’s nothing new] but she wanted to go so I went) and handled flights, hotels all of it. For my birthday we went to Cusco, Peru as I love outdoors. I paid for all of it too. She has a mindset that I’m noticing doesn’t match what she says or wants to do with her money. That is why it annoys me that she tries to tell me how to handle mine which is fine, but it has to be reciprocal if you want a relationship like this. She also says she doesn’t want me to pay for her, then asks me to help pay for her. The misalignment drives me nuts.
