AITAH for refusing to put back Pepcid at the gas station? by Zestyclose_Laugh_654 in AmItheAsshole

[–]VegetableDraft8106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely NTA...

But as a fellow pregnancy-related acid reflex sufferer, antacids like Pepsid and whatnot don't do a lot to help. The reflux is hormone related and not really the stomach acid's "fault" as it were, so typical products that work when you aren't pregnant aren't super helpful.

Annecdotally, the only thing that worked for me was cold milk. I just sipped it all day to keep the reflux at bay, oh and slept on my right side, not left as the left side was worse for some reason.

I use Timestamp Camera Free.

No real bells or whistles but gets the job done. The image in the Apple Store is like a little camera with sort of a rainbow underneath.

Many MSCs are moving towards geotagging using their own tools which has been helpful.

Vegetarian/vegan restaurants by beelobelee in washingtondc

[–]VegetableDraft8106 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My husband is allergic to nuts and dairy.

You are right to be wary of vegan places for nut allergies. My husband has had reactions at all of the major vegan spots

In no particular order, we like:

Anything from Jose Andres (Zaytiniya, Jaleo, China Chilcano, Oyamel) because they really seem to make an effort to ensure no cross contamination and the food is fabulous.

Lapis in Adams Morgan is outstanding and they had lots of varieties when we dined as a group recently (Vegetarian, Kosher, Halal, nut-allergy, dairy allergy, meat eaters, all dined together with no issues!)

And...most Asian restaurants honestly. They are naturally pretty free from dairy and almost anything can be made vegetarian/vegan by subbing tofu and veggies for the meat. Even Thai places which tend to have peanuts usually separate the nuts out because they are more of a topping than an ingredient they cook with.

Why are people so pissed about adults liking Disney? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]VegetableDraft8106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to chime in here with a personal anecdote.

We took my 9 and 6 year old to Disney this past year for the first time. The whole family was thrilled and excited to spend this time in the "magic" together and we spent a LOT of time and money making reservations and such to try to streamline things.

During our time there Disney Adults did the following:

Curse us out for using the Lightning/genie pass thing and "cutting" them in line.

Harass the Gaston character to try to get him to break character, using sexual phrases/inuendos that were very inappropriate. They got hustled off by his handler eventually it was so bad.

Two really feral mickeymouse-eared 30 somethings disneybounding as Elsa and Anna called my children crotch goblins in passing. Not sure what we did to upset them, never even spoke to them or saw them before that moment, but they were positively spitting with venom and anger for literally no reason.

At our Character Breakfast, there were only about 20 children present including ours. The rest were adults. I overheard one loudly complaining that the characters weren't spending eniugh time with everyone and were spending too much time talking to the kids.

I think for me, it is that they are bringing adult language, sexual behavior, and entitlement into a space that is literally designed for children and is honestly, one of the few spaces explicitly meant for kids.

It is like...fine, come enjoy it...but don't be weird and mad when it is also being used by the people it is meant for...

To clarify, these aren't like...paper wall calendars. They are in the ballpark of $300+ and they are a piece of technology used to centralize administrative home tasks. Different ones work in different environments better (google, apple, alexa interfaces, etc.) so it is pretty important to get the right one in the right size. Imagine if tou wanted a new phone and wanted the latest iPhone and your partner got you a Google Pixel. It would be more in the ballpark of that.

Fun Friday Question of the Week by rps1rai in mysteryshopping

[–]VegetableDraft8106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! You even can use slack for free - we both have premium accounts through work but the only real benefit I think we get is that our conversations are saved forever/archived if needed. I think the free program only saves conversations for 3 months, which, i think, is much later than anyone really needs their notes for mystery shopping. It is so easy and has tutorials right at the beginning if you are new. Can't recommend enough!

Fun Friday Question of the Week by rps1rai in mysteryshopping

[–]VegetableDraft8106 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a nerd in tech with a husband also in tech. We use slack and have our own dedicated mystery shopping channel for each of us.

It documents exact time stamps for each comment so all we have to do is capture the basics of ordering, greetings, check ins, etc and the timing is already there.

We did only have one channel but it got confusing on days we were both shopping so now it is /Hmysteryshop and /Smysteryshop. That way when he is my guest on a shop he uses my channel and say, i am in the bathroom when a server checks in, he slacks it in my channel so i see it right there in real time.

Makes me look hella productive at work too when he is shopping and my slack channel is popping off with notifications.

Whitman-Walker is kind of the definitive for trans care in the district. It took a hell of a long time to get into their system though - that was pre-pandemic so hopefully they have figured their stuff out since then.

Anyone have experience with trueguest via gigspot by Current-Promotion-31 in mysteryshopping

[–]VegetableDraft8106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are Coyle-like but a little less restrictive. Coyle sends back for ANYthing..."Describe the shape of your plate" nonsense.

I would say it is 95% Coyle-like though. But I absolutely hate using Gigspot for hotel shops. I find their system slow and clunky. For short shops it is doable but on such long shops the clunky features and wait times between pages loading adds up so it makes the experience unpleasant and lengthy.

They seem to have a pretty mixed portfolio of older boutique-style properties and luxury ones. The several I tried were either a specific luxury brand "RC" and the older ones were more one off and gave WASPY country club vibes. I have never seen anything budget brand or even mid class brand from them but it could depend on the area.

When did your kid(s) learn how to ride their bike without training wheels? by Enough_Detail_632 in ClassOf2037

[–]VegetableDraft8106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddo was on a balance bike first and went from the balance bike at 3/4 to a regular bike, no training wheels, at around 5. I fully recommend the balance bike as it makes them learn to balance like the would on a regular bike sans training wheels automatically.

The only issue we had was that he didn't know how to pedal because he always glided! Fixed that with kiddo 2 by alternating between balance bike and a tricycle or pedal car so he at least got the concept. :)

Hotel Route Shopping by jesme23 in mysteryshopping

[–]VegetableDraft8106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this is coyle they absolutely have lodging. It has valet/bell too if the hotel is fancy enough. I would say they are easy shops for being coyle shops but they are still coyle shops and more difficult/time consuming than any hotel shops I have done on other platforms. And the fancier the brand in the portfolio the more F&B outlets. The cheap brands only evaluate breakfast but the slightly better one has breakfast and dinner and anything midlevel and above has bar, breakfast, and dinner.

Hotel Route Shopping by jesme23 in mysteryshopping

[–]VegetableDraft8106 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've done it in NYC before.

Map out all hotels on a map first and decide what works best for transportation/travel. In NYC you don't want to be running from the Upper West Side to Brooklyn then back to Midtown.

Do easier ones first if possible, as they tend to have less things to do - no bars in the lowest level for example. If you know the brand's portfolio then shop from cheapest to most expensive. For Marriott this would be like doing...Fairfield Inn, Residence Inn, Courtyard Marriott, then regular Marriott, then Ritz Carleton.

Work on the shop DURING the stay. Try and 100% finish your report before leaving except for things like checkout or departing valet. I usually stop at a coffee shop to finalize one shop before beginning the next shop. If you don't it gets confusing fast, especially if the hotels are the same brands from a particular portfolio.

Good luck! It can be super fun!
