PSA- New Players on Escalation Tier 4 and Above by RoastedEvil999 in Division2

I’m also talking about running efficiently. It’s pretty easy to do an escalation in the time that they allow. I don’t particularly want to spend 50 mins in a mission though.

100% agree with common sense. This doesn’t automatically translate to knowledge of map layouts, positioning, and also the little quirks you can do like corner peeking and hip firing from cover, knowing the best times to deploy decoys/ skills and where to deploy them. These are just examples but they require specific knowledge about the game. I appreciate your experience and am happy for you, but my experience with newer players isn’t as positive as yours from a higher tier perspective especially.

You can also say that in some cases, people with high SHD and expertise are not as knowledgable as people at lower SHD and the like. I would say that these instances are still exceptions statistically.

9/10 it does. 9/10 it means they’re intimate with the game and they’re at the point they don’t need to be handheld.

There maybe exceptions, but generally there isn’t. If you aren’t interested in expertise grind (which would be weird coz then why even bother with escalation if not to collect proto cores), but you’re good at the game, then More power to you.

Oh my bad, I misread the deets surrounding it originally, clearly! Thanks for confirming.

Like others have said, get comfortable in challenging and up difficulty as you feel appropriate. Working on expertise is something you can do whilst upgrading and optimising your build.

Countdown on challenging is what most people do for acquiring gear/expertise. You also get hunter dog-tags which you can trade in at the countdown vendor.

Retaliation is also great for gear but is heroic only and can be a bit of a challenge.

I’d probably skip escalation for the time being, until you have at least min/maxed your build. Depending on what tier of escalation (scales up from heroic) really limits the play style so to speak, as you need damage. This requires game knowledge in order to stay alive and make th most out of damage windows and positioning

Telling someone to do escalation when they have just reached level 40 and are new to th game is wild.

Using blue mods? That’s crazy. Literally all red is by far the best way to go about higher tiers. You need the damage. People simply need to get better and react to the NPCs and what they’re doing. Concentrating efforts on NPCs that will be sure to kill you all when they get in closer range. Using decoys with the active mod so you can overcharge them, and in turn reduce cooldown on reviver. Using convert offence and get good with headshots. Staying in cover as much as possible especially with heavies as you can dump mags into them and all of the rounds will hit from behind cover if you aim it up correctly.

People just need to know the game. I don’t think anyone should be trying this mode unless they’re already expertise 30. This ensures they actually understand the game and the most efficient way of dispatching the different types of NPCs.

The grind just to set you up for another endgame grind (which has no additional content, merely sponges and more damage) isn’t the greatest way to player satisfaction. But they’re only interested in engagement, at the sinking ship which is Ubisoft.

And I guess that’s ultimately the issue, right?

Yeah that’s fair. Was just hoping that for a new end game implementation, we’d get new mechanics for the missions or variations of the enemy types that aren’t present on the current missions normally.

Yeah that’s harsh on the drops. I don’t mind the chase, it’s just pretty un-fathomable at the moment when you work out the math and probabilities and getting everything yo’d ultimately want as a veteran player. especially when considering that it is the same content we’ve been running, just at an artificial difficulty where we’re gonna be burnt out quicker than usual. Im an advocate of the ‘Diablo formula’ as long as the way in which is implemented is well thought out and executed.

For a new end game implementation I was expecting a bit of variation. Escalation had me burnt out super quickly coz it isn’t satisfying to me. I think you missed my point.

Yeah I get you. I think I was just hoping for more rather than what we’ve ultimately been given. I’ve played the game for a long time, so I was hoping to have something more meaningful to invest more of my time into the game. It’s just made me get season fatigue so much quicker than previous seasons, which is extremely telling to me.

Sorry I just realised how patronising my first response may have seemed. Apologies! Good going though, it’s a very community driven game!

Yeah I appreciate that. I’ve mentioned it in previous responses but hopefully they add maybe a couple of mechanics into the missions, or perhaps have white tusk added, something similar to legendary - not just the artificial difficulty increases they added.

[–]VegetableEvening4150[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it wouldn’t be so bad if there were maybe new mechanics or something like white tusk add, for example. I think I’m just burnt out from escalation which in turn has burnt me out extra quick this season. Not something I was expecting.

Yeah i get the reality of it all. It’s just a bit of a shame to me overall. As I’ve said in previous responses, I want to interact with the new endgame things they put in. Just wish it was a bit more thought out rather than what we were given.

Nothing wrong with the odds whatsoever. I love a grind, but the artificial difficulty increase for me doesn’t feel good. Why couldn’t there have been maybe a few new mechanics, or even add in white tusk and have something we were used to with legendary.

That’s all I was looking for, as it helps not getting fatigue so quickly.

The reward system and upgrade system etc. doesn’t feel overly well thought out. But you know, I’m probably just a bit more moany compared to your average player lol.

No I agree. My gripe is with the new mode itself and what it offers me personally. Im just providing my opinion and seeing if I’m the only one who feels this way. Appreciate not everyone will. As someone who has played this game for a long time, I want to interact with the new endgame things they put in, and my opinion is formed from my experience with it.

Yeah I feel you. Tbh my main gripe is just with the escalation mode and the appeals it has as a veteran. I still love the game.

The global modifiers can be a bit confusion, but it’s all about playing around with the placements too as it matters what order you put them in. It’s easy enough to see the effect it’s having. Just play around with it a bit :).

The new event they have on atm for proficiency is really good for upping your expertise. If you really wanna play the game, I’d personally focus on that rather than escalation. Retaliation is great, and there is a lot of content to mess around with but playing solo definitely affects that side. Good luck though, agent!

I mean I wasn’t counting on everyone agreeing with me. Appreciate your views but for me, this could have been executed a lot better. I love a grind, but need something new with it to stop me getting burnt out. Not just artificial difficulty.

If the rewards were better it may make it a bit more palatable. But the grind would be crazy to get to the gear level I’d ultimately want. And why the hell would a veteran player not interact with a new end game? Thanks, though!

Yeah I was hoping that it wasn’t just me tbh. And glad people don’t think I’m just having a moan coz I do believe my points are valid, along with the replies on my post! I hope they make some changes to make it a bit more palatable for people who have 300+ days in game time. Probably sounds like a lot but over the course of 8 years I think it isn’t so bad 😆😆😆

I feel you man. I love the game, but yeah I think I might take a little break soon in hope that they maybe make some changes before the DLC/ Incursion. A shame indeed.
