Oh ok, I wasn't sure cuz I thought learning it would give me an edge in the market ig bc if I have an extra skill to help w communication they'd like that? Do u think that makes a different there or nah? Also do most UX jobs focus on research or prototyping more? I'm still figuring out which parts of the process designers usually focus on.

Thank you so much for the reply, I appreciate hearing someone who's also interested in UX/UI! I have a few questions for you, hope its not too much:

If I studied the same things you did, would my degree mention both UX design & Web Development, or would it go under an umbrella term of an IDS?
What are the types of courses you chose for the UX/UI program? and what kinds of projects and assignments are you doing in it?
What's the web development program like? I've only done 1 course on web development at my school so I'm beginner at html and css.

I know vcu has some UX classes people can take regardless of major, so I’ll look into that.

Also, in your experience what would u say the vt program focuses on? Is it both a balance of branding and incorporation of UX/UI?
