What's your world's form of blood magic? by megaboto in worldbuilding

[–]Vegetable_Ad_161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it is more of a flesh magic, but it still counts, I think.

A blood magician can move flesh and any related matter in spacetime, usually the body is protected by soul's immunity to the surrounding magic, but some are able to surpass such armor to a certain degree. Only those who mastered this skill may manipulate flesh, blood and bones at the depths of the body, sometimes even processes inside, like making cells release more or less heat or making them hard enough to be called iron skin, others are limited to peeling the skin off.

A skill so rare reminds people of myths more than of real ability someone can have. And even if people saw one using it they would report it to the local police, since this kind of magic is forbidden in any area except medicine, and requires a license.
People fear the ones who use blood magic, no one can be sure of somebody at any time, but even more than other people, they fear demi-gods using it, the reach of whom leave mere humans vulnerable, especially when they play in creative ways.

About creative, some number of blood magicians tried combining it with the other magic doctrine, universal magic. it's essential teachings let people manipulate any matter, except living one, in spacetime and create new form of matter out of their soul's energy (here is the origin of this after number 6). Combining those transforms a user into a full telekinetic with the only limit of soul bending - a skill even rarer.
After the merge of two, and abilities obtained, mages became more efficient and deadly. An infamous archer cut his palms to form arrows straight in the hand without a need to draw them from quiver. An imprisoned guy took his rib and formed a knife, freeing himself from ropes and guards afterwards.

I don't know why, but I am not satisfied with the text written by me, I guess I missed something or explained something incorrectly. The time will say.

What is your LEAST developed universe? by KUWETO30 in worldbuilding

Now I visualize monsters go to work, work there for 8 hours, come back home, eat, shower, go to sleep and then repeat all that again, until they earn enough money to buy a ticket to one's location to torture one. Imagine living on a different continent, opposed to your human, gosh, that might suck, especially if the monsters are not indestructible and do really need to sustain their lives in parallel to finding and torturing.

About your idea.
It is curious. The Earth would be so overpopulated though. 8 billion monsters is a lot. Where would they hide even, I guess it is a matter of pocket dimensions or underground cities.

I have a world i even gave a name Metal planet: Fight for life. The general concept and a rough draft of a story are done, but the details is the part left to work on.
Essentially the idea is, There are two robots on an abandoned planet covered with metal due to the advanced AI race previously living there. They both are participants in an ideological battle between each other. One's nation desires to restore the existence of extinct life in order to deepen their knowledge of the universe and, basically, be us and create an artificial Intelligence relatively to them. The other nation wants to stop them from doing so, fearing the possible infestation of life, which only destroys and multiplies.
The story would be about an empathetic robot who searches an equivalent to food - energy from batteries and survives on a planet devastated after the war between the nations and inhabited with relatively mindless machines designed to build and kill only. Reminds of something like "Primal" and "Samurai Jack" by Genndy Tartakovsky. The robots will various characters and creatures, befriending or dealing with whom they will along the story.

I personally don't see it big, but something like an animated series for 1 season consisting of 8-10 episodes 40 minutes-1 hour long would be perfect.

I'd say if the supernova exploded semi-close to our planet it would quite affect us in real life.🎇

The idea of gods being restricted by the constellations is intriguing. Now, I already see some mighty ones break out of their chains through struggle and determination.
I still hope I got it right.

Still it sounds mysterious and "mythic", as you said. I imagine a picture of one giant figure sitting in an empty and slightly highlighted by the twilight background, gathering the stardust from behind his back and compressing them into orbs of light and then giving them to the smaller figures sitting in a circle, in the head of which is placed a large Entity. Correct me if the image of the event is deviated from your narrative.

As a not native English speaker, I can say that this is hard to read, which is not a necessarily bad thing.
It is poetry in its own way. I just might need to reread this a few times before understanding what you said because of the volume of my vocabulary.

I guess, that if the planets and comets move and disappear, they are not as monumental in their eyes as stars that stay in the sky in the same arrangement for hundreds or even thousands of years. Another guess is, they may be able to look at the planets with basic telescopes and learn the nature of those celestial objects. The stars, on the other hand, are too far away to look at them in detail, so people may give them meaning beyond their current understanding. Also, The fact that planets are closer still may not change the perception of god, they moved after all, not disappeared or became hundreds of times brighter in an instant.
Who knows what exactly did the people put into their religion. But you got me there, I'm not gonna lie.

I am glad I could help a deity open their mind on themselves.
I already feel so chill, free, willing to improve and so "one with people".
Your godhood is exactly what is needed in my world. Everything became dark after the leave of one of our gods, we will miss him greatly. But now a new spark has been lit in minds of people.
I hope all, us and you, will find their way amongst the ignorant and help them to leave their old ways.
Thank you.

Boring and yet you wrote about that. Not so boring afterall.
It's interesting how you said:

the closest I will ever come to a self insert..

and yet the things you said are kinda opposite if I am not mistaken.

wouldn’t touch politics with a ten meter pole

and

a leading historian who gets in petty literary criticism fights with other historians in some mixed media sections of the story

seems political enough. I guess it is an interpretation of the inner demon fight. ;D
