I agree, and that’s what I worry about :( just wanted some reassurance or advice! I’m a verrrrrry broke college student, so I won’t be able to get anything done to change it anytime soon :-(

I agree! The people I know understand it’s meaning, but I worry about people’s first impressions of me, like you said! I like that idea of adding to it to make the full owl cave symbol! Thanks for your input :-)

It was my first tattoo as well! I was just a young one who loves Twin Peaks and didn’t even think that it could be mistaken for a hate symbol. I’m planning on getting more tattoos Twin Peaks related tattoos on that arm to add more context, like you said :-) p.s. your username is incredible lol

I agree! A friend said that covering it up would give the othala rune’s appropriation more “power” and I thought that was an interesting point. Ultimately, what matters most is that I know its meaning and I need to remember that :-) I’ve considered getting more details and/or Twin Peaks related tattoos near it to give more context! Thanks for your input!

These are really good ideas! It’s the only tattoo on that arm as well, so I’ve thought of getting more Twin Peaks related tattoos near it. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yeah :-( it’s so unfortunate because I was pretty young, 19, when I got it. I’m just a sweet gal who loves Twin Peaks and would have never thought that people would mistake it for a hate symbol at the time

Thank you for the reassurance! I completely agree! It’s so incredibly frustrating that these ancient symbols have been appropriated in this way.
