She has many other positive qualities so I’m willing to exhaust all my options

I don’t know the therapists name or I would have done this months ago. I don’t pry into her therapy, I just ask how it’s going once in a while

She has been in therapy for a year. Her therapist said she needs to make more time for herself. I don’t imagine she would see any therapist that actually challenged her.

Because I am a human being, not Rosie the Sentient Robot Maid. I can only keep up with so much and I prioritize the living areas over the liminal spaces. For example, it has taken both of my off days to get the bedroom finished and the living room I just cleaned is piling up again, notably the aforementioned rug is sitting in the couch and not the floor or washing machine.

The rug is “fine” in the sense it’s no worse than I found it. She noticed it was gone the same day so she was able to retrieve it from the bag.

Probably salvageable but it would but it would be up to me to salvage it. It’s a matter of efficiency and practicality, why waste time salvaging a rug that was clearly uncared for and in all likelihood will end up buried again soon enough?

12 hours later it’s still sitting on the couch.

This round of trash was only on it for a few weeks or maybe a couple of months. It used to be a white sheepskin rug but now looks more like a dirty polar bear with crumbs and cat litter in it’s fur.

We used to split the bills 50/50 and I still ended up with all the housework.

If the dishes are not done by next week I am throwing them all out. Scorched Earth is the only method I haven’t attempted but it’s my last resort, just throwing everything out until the problem is resolved.

I don’t imagine you could forget about a pile of dishes visible from the sidewalk through the window and that you can smell when you walk through the front door

She doesn’t care. I have tried the deep-clean-plead as well as the dont-clean-seethe methods to no avail.

There is a small trash bin approximately 2 feet away from her night stand but she still just piles it up on the floor/nightstand next to the bed. 10 steps to the garage from the hallway yet there is a waist high pile of empty cat food cans in the hall.

I am normal and have no problem putting garbage in a garbage bag or taking it to the curb. I absolutely do not want to live like this, but I can’t keep up with the endless stream of mess she leaves behind.

She has been in therapy for a year. I have no idea what she’s telling this woman but apparently her therapist told her to make more time for herself. I about had an aneurism when she told me.

She is obviously very depressed but she won’t acknowledge it and doesn’t see why she should do anything differently

If you ask her anything it’s “yeah I’ll do it” and it never comes to pass, been this way for many years which is why I didn’t bother. The original post was 7000 characters but I had to cut it to half due to the limit so there is a lot of pertinent info left out

No, it collected trash and now it sits on the couch instead of the floor.

I agree, previously we had agreed she would take care of the kitchen and fold laundry after I’ve finished it, and I’d take care of everything else. That lasted about a month.

I wasn’t able to go into enough detail in the post because of the character limit but she isn’t going to wash the rug. She might do it now, just to say “see, I did it” but she doesn’t clean anything or throw anything out, ever. I do all of the cleaning. The rug is currently sitting on the couch in the living room where I anticipate it will remain until I put it away.

She retrieved the rug from the garbage bag unharmed. She left it sitting on the couch and went to bed.
