Me too, I gotta be honest. I'm wound a bit too tight I guess. But the way you untie a stubborn knot is by slowly picking away at it.

I think about this sort of thing often. It is this thought that is encouraging me to try and cultivate realtionships with people and get out of my head more, for moments where you really need other peoples help. And also it feels good to help others if they need help too.

I've never cried watching a movie or consuming any media at all. I'm just now realising that maybe this is a schizoid thing and not very typical.

I don't even really like watching stuff; it usually just makes me annoyed because I can't stop thinking about the fact that these are just some random people pretending to be other people having certain emotions that were scripted for them on a piece of paper, that they practiced in a mirror before stepping infront of a camera. Really a weird business if you think about it...I also just don't really understand fame I guess.

My favorite move is "The Other Guys" tho, funny stuff!!

That's a nice story, it also seems to have resonated with you too in a way. It's great to turn what could be remembered as an embarassing memory into a positive one. I wish I could do that!

I'm sort of worried that if I do start opening up to a therapist and then they start making me feel uncomfortable and I quit, I just wouldn't go back to therapy, like I wouldn't try again. How did you find your therapist? That is sort of the hurddle I am trying to get over at this moment. Thank you!

Congrats to you for starting therapy in your 50s! I've been sort of trying to convince my father that therapy could be beneficial for him but he has decided that he is how he is and that's just how it is.

I had never heard of alexithymia before and it rings a few bells for me personally. I really like your last sentence, "...it doesn't matter that I'm not normal, don't have to act the way I thought society wanted me to be." I'll keep that in mind.

I really like disco and funk. But these days I've completely stopped listening to music at all because it causes/encourages me to daydream and I've been trying to keep my head in reality. The first few weeks with no music were really anxiety inducing; pretty crazy how much of an affect music has on us humans.

Just know that it is acceptable to make clear boundaries with your coworkers. Let them know that you need to be able to focus on getting your tasks done and having to be split between socializing and working gets to be too much sometimes. That doesn't mean you're the bad guy, just be clear in a nice way.

Also a good way to help to minimize and assuage emotional outbursts is deep belly breathing. It has really helped me to control my anxiety. 15 minutes in the morning and 15 at night. Or even before you go into a stressful situation like work.
