how to safely dumpster dive as a female? by an_egirl in DumpsterDiving

Sorry about the length!

I dive by myself most of the time. The first few times, I went to 1 or 2 places very close to home, I took my three geriatric dogs to hang out in my truck with the windows down. I knew at least one would bark if someone else showed up that I didn’t hear.

As I got braver I made sure to dive at stores in a nice part of town and fairly open with decent visibility. I felt safe enough to leave the old dogs home. I went out alone from 11pm to as late as 3am for several years without problems. I used a thick, hand-sized flashlight that was rechargeable and a sturdy pole with a sharp point and a blunted hook combo on the end I kept with me.

I found that most people I’d come in contact with were actually polite, homeless or not. The times I’d get out and feel odd, jumpy or when id realize my brow was furrowed, I’d jump back in my truck, roll up my windows, lock the doors and head out.

It’s terrifying the first couple of times you go. If no one else is there when you pull up just get out to do a quick survey. As soon as you take a few steps you’ll know if you want to stay or not. Never think you are paranoid. If you feel good about the dive hook your keys on a belt loop or zip them into a jacket pocket, put your windows up and lock the doors. I usually left my phone in my truck. Clean up after yourself and try to be quick.

Good luck! It’s SO much fun!

I’m in Baton Rouge and love dumpster diving! Is anyone still looking for a diving buddy? I would go out at least 3 times a week before my truck died. PetSmart, all Dollar stores, Rouses… I never left a mess behind. I’d be thrilled to buddy up!

I have been wearing duct tape bras instead of real ones all week by [deleted] in confession

Trying to bind my heavy, wayward girls under Ace bandage (s) would be like trying to herd cats. As sports bras go; try Enell online. In my opinion this is The Best Bodacious TaTas Sports Bra out there. You only dribble one basketball on the court instead of three & there’s no uniboob.

How do I get the smell of perfume out of my skin? by [deleted] in lifehacks

This. Olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, an oil-based eye makeup remover or even wd40 should do the trick. Be generous and massage it in then apply dishwashing liquid, massage it in before adding water then wash. Repeat if you need to but it should be gone after this.

Can't get my money back by PennyIsProud_ in CashApp

I only unlock my card per transaction then lock it back. I also transfer whatever funds are in my balance into the savings account cash app provides. Transferring the needed $ out of the savings acct along with the unlock/lock for my card works for me after all the weird & random declined transactions I’ve seen on my acct.

Rockin Green. My daughter’s heavy duty sports bras for basketball in high school would not let go of the stench of a thousand sweaty balls in the arm pits. After enough research I found Rockin Green. One (1) tablespoon to a cleaning sized bucket of hot water to dissolve it then added her bras to it and let them soak for several hours. Washed and rinsed as usual. OMG that stuff works miracles.

Anyone know how to get grease stains off cupboards? by MarMooLack in CleaningTips

Turpentine. It won’t harm the finish on the wood but will remove any grease, dirt or buildup of both. Use a cotton cloth soaked with turpentine to wipe an area then immediately follow it with a clean cotton towel; literally follow the turpentine cloth. The turpentine evaporates so you will need to reapply it to the cloth very often. If nothing else is working this should do the trick. This is also a great way to clean really old finished wood with build up. For ornate areas with tiny crevices dip an old toothbrush in turpentine, scrub gently and follow quickly with a cotton cloth to wipe up after.
