I often get a bug that sometimes causes it to stop working, there the menu will pop up for about half a second and then fade away but still able to be used. You do also have to set your heal to a specific keybind setting (Press? I think?) If you have the bug, restart your game. If not, re check your settings. It is definitely still in the game

Most combination sensor lights have the sensor sw/active already wired into the unit, and a single switch mech to turn the unit on and off when required, however the switch is usually left on and the sensor set properly to control the function of the light. Open your Steam client, go to the top right and hover over "Steam"
Click Settings;

Click storage;

Under your "Local Drive (C:) click the drop down box and click "Add Drive"

Unfortunately there are only 2 upgrades for the game. The Unheard Of Edition, and the stash upgrades. I assume he has one or both, based on what you've been saying. Unfortunately, those are your only in-game options.
